Does it matter if the ice drops off in pieces (rather than melts slowly) i.e. would there need to be further inspection to confirm the pieces hadn't caused any damage as they fell?

They simply would not risk it. No launch unless this melts off/melts down a good amount is the official line.

Weather aircraft up.

We're starting to get a bit busy, so to the guests, you've been given notice on the first post of this thread if we get sluggish.

PAO finally noting the issue with the clear ice on the LH2 feedline...about 1/2 to 3/4-inch thick...

Looking at the patch on the channel 3 webcam, seems to be slush now.  that being said, I don't have a good feeling about today being launch day.

Melting.Good news!
Is it?  (What's the source for that?)  It looks about the same as it did an hour ago...

Edit -- circling the clear ice...

If You compare to shot form an hour ago,it's progress for sure. But still an issue of course.

Ironically, they shortened the hold by 30 minutes to try to reduce the time for the ice buildup on the tank--well..does this put holes in that theory? Its probably a little early to say that.  And if they scrub today for this--whats to stop this ice from happening tomorrow or the next day?
Three Engines onboard Endeavour have now throttled back to 2/3rds throttle to prepare the spacecraft to pass through the area of maximum dynamic pressure and to go supersonic

No, because the cause was never said to be based on a single factor.  This is a different tank, tanked in a different season at a different time of day.  (And that's only few of the possible contributing factors.)

Could be because of the cold weather at night and that sort of deal, but when you have degrees up to -320 and -340, there's gonna be a problem with ice, almost always.  Maybe not bad, but...

Could be all manner of reasons. For now, let's see if it all goes away (remember, even slush is a debris hazard) - and also note that it's the clear ice that's the main area of interest on this area.
