To all guests, during STS-120
« on: 10/16/2007 08:18 pm »
As with the last couple of launches, we have new servers now and can cope with large demand. However, there are times when we get absolutely swamped, many hundreds of times a second (page requests), during launch and landing.

If we start to get swamped, we hold the option prioritizing access to the live threads to those logged into the site (which will stop access for "guests" for a short period of time). So, to avoid inconvinence, I would reccomend guests register with the site.

http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/register.asp

We do not, repeat NOT, use your e-mail for any other purpose than to send you your password (which you can change once logged in). It is not displayed, it is not sold to a spam company (like some sites do), it is not registered to some newsletter. there's nothing to "opt out" of. You'll get one e-mail and one only, an automated e-mail with your password and login details.

By all means use a temp hotmail account or whatever, but you could use your grandmother's e-mail address and she'd not know about it, due to that single e-mail you'll only recieve.

We may be able to cope, so this is only a reccomendation, but we're gaining large jumps in people accessing this site month on month, so this note is due dilegence for those wishing to follow STS-120 coverage here.

We're getting a bit busy, so guests, you're pre-warned just in case.

We're still at around 40-50 percent guests on here. Be pre-warned we are going to make re-entry and landing available for those logged in only.
