What are the exact durations for the T-11 hours and T-9 minutes holds ?
T-11 hours and holding: 13 hours and 13 minutes..
T-9 minutes and holding: Depends on if they're running behind on launch day in terminal countdown. Also depends on if they decide to go with the opening of the window or the end of the window.

T-43 hours and counting! S0007 ops are now in work by the launch team. Primary work will be focused on reading the launch pad facilities and Discovery for the loading of the cryogenic reactants for the three power producing fuel cells into storage spheres beneath the payload bay liner. This is scheduled to start at 11:30 am EDT tommorow with the loading of liquid oxygen.

Glad to hear the countdown has begun...October 23rd is my 31st birthday. I've checked and it will be the first (and probably last) Shuttle mission to lift off on such a momentous day ;-)

Half-related news: Seems like during yesterday's STA approaches one of the STAs hit a tree and damaged a strobe-light on the left wing:

STA damaged was N944NA.

Holy moly.  It was in the air at the time (on approach as you said)?  That'll get your attention.

"The incident occurred during landing about 6:30 p.m. EDT Oct. 19 following a training session. An STA flight instructor was piloting the aircraft. The flight crew was unaware of any contact with the tree, and there were no injuries. Thunderstorms were in the area at the time of the incident, which is under investigation"

The description of that, and more pictures (including pictures of Commander Pam Melroy and Pilot George Zamka practicing landings on the STA), are found at:

Just stumbled across this link, not sure if it's been seen by anyone else, but it gives a detailed run-down of what happens, when, from the CTS for Countdown start to launch.  I find it very interesting, and very good for those who don't know what happens, when:

Hope it becomes a spectacular birthday candle!  Let's just hope when it's 'blown out,' it'll be at MECO!  STS-121 launched the day after my 19th birthday, but I considered it a belated gift ;)

I'm just hoping the weather and mechanics cooperate Tuesday.  It has been over 7 years since a habitable module was added to the ISS.  I've been anxiously waiting that long for this flight.

Thanks for that!  Good find.  We get the charts on L2 - but this is a lot easier to understand and follow, for someone not used to charts.                                                                              Got a question for those in the know.  During the T-11 hold they show that film gets installed in several pad cameras.  How many cameras still use film?  I assumed most if not all were digital or video.
