Fumbled before flight Mk III

Probably the 3rd or 4th attempt to create an airlaunch platform in Russia, but again it never left the paper stage. For the past 5 or 6 years there have been projects floating around to use a number of MiG-31s to launch small rockets to LEO. The MiG's are great looking, very fast and very heavy interceptors. Kazakhstan has them in their inventory, but doesn't really need them. So it was considered an ideal base for air launching rockets, flying at 15km altitude at Mach 2.35 should give the rocket a nice head start.

But it seems Kazakhstan puled to plug on the project :(

There's a pic here:

Mach 2.35 at 15 km altitude is about 700 m/s.
