I have come across a variety of technologies which permit various capabilities to be applied to a flexible substrate relatively easily and inexpensively.  This got me wondering whether you could produce a skin that combined many different capabilities at once.

It is possible to print solar cells, electronic circuits, capacitors, and antennas on flat flexible sheets, so why not do them all at once either on separate sheets combined in layers or on a single sheet with some sort of insulative coating in between them?  The efficiencies are low but perhaps there is a niche where the capabilites it is able to deliver are useful for some application.

If someone figures out a way to do inkjet printing in space you might even be able to manufacture them on orbit just by printing a design transmitted from earth.
