hmm, you could clearly see 4 or 5 white pieces fall of the orbiter right after lift off.

The Tyvek Covers??

Tyvek? Sorry I'm not so familiar with the specific terms
but they looked flexible strips, not tiles or so.

Covers to protect various windows and parts of the shuttle before launch, they're supposed to fall off at liftoff. Check the Q&A threads.

Those are the covers which -appropiately :) - cover the FRCS thrusters before launch, to avoid water or other contaminants to get into them. They fall back in every flight, and actually have been redesigned lately to allow them to rip off shortly after liftoff, so that they don't become a hazard if they hold on for too long. Clearly visible in other launches too.

Not windows, just thruster covers ;)

Yes, it sounds like the audio encoder from NASA TV into the webstreamer has got a problem. Is anyone watching from a direct sat feed and having the same problem?
