Title: Good luck Atlantis, not long now!! (A place to get your woo hoos posted)
Post by: Joffan on 06/06/2007 12:47 am
This is a deliberate "lightning conductor" thread to absorb all the good wishes and clock observations that we all feel but are a bit too much for the update thread.

Everyone is welcome, just jump in.

For myself:
Woohoo! the countdown is about to start! I hope all goes well in the next few days... I'm really looking forward to the mission.

Good luck, Atlantis.  Godspeed to you and your crew.

I wish to, someday, watch one launch AND land, in person.  Will I?  Probably never.

Giving props to the crew for helpin' us reach the moon, and props to NTV for the coverage.

Sorta off topic, but does anyone know when the official Java timer appears on Nasa.gov?  I usually embed that into a local webpage (a HTML document on my Hard Drive), then set that as my desktop background.

Go Atlantis!

Excellent idea, I have been bursting inside wanting to post my WhooHoos and Yee Haws!

I am more excited for this launch than I have been for any in a long time.  I hope its possible to get all 4 in this year that would be a nice flow rate.

GO ATLANTIS!

I can't wait to get this sucker off the ground, have a nice clean mission and get ready for Endeavors return to flight.

Weather looks pretty good for zip code 32920 as well.

Vehicle looks ready to go right now too.

Fingers crossed the next 36 hours are uneventful followed by a few million pounds of thrust.

Godspeed Atlantis!

A little "how-to" if you want the official "T-" clock on your desktop:

Download the .htm file attached, put it wherever you want on your hard drive, then right click on your desktop -> properties -> desktop -> customize desktop -> web -> new -> browse for the .htm file attached, add it and click "OK". It will appear on your desktop as a resizable, movable web page.

Thanks! By the way - if you're planning on using two or more monitors/projectors, you can edit the size of the flash clock by simply opening the web page in Notepad, and scroll sideways to the

height="180" width="260">

part, simply edit those numbers (in pixels) and you'll get the clock in whatever size you want. Then go to your desktop and customize the window. It looks great on a 15" monitor! (although the resolution is quite poor...)

Good Luck Atlantis! Enjoy the short nights!

Seriously y'all I loaded up ORBITER with the new Space Shuttle Fleet 3.93 to pass some time. I noticed that when I got into Orbit something strange was happening.

Turns out that its only been a short time since a 72 hour Sunshine Marathon in the ISS orbit. As such the nights are very short and the Camera views will be VERY nice with all that daytime.

I want to go check out how long night is for FD1 and Landing Day. I will post those est. durations tommorow.

For now I want to show a short Fraps capture made into a GIF for quick posting. It is of horrid quality but shows you a few of the Orbits from the ISS perspective during FD1.

Again I'm very sorry about the poor quality but you can basically make out what I'm talking about. I wanted to keep it at 36K to be kind to people with lower connections and not get the mods hounding me :)

Credit goes to David413 for the Marathon heads up and the Shuttle Fleet Addon.

Just a quick follow up.

(Simulated) Est. Night Duration (ISS Perspective)

8th June: 19mins (Launch)

17th June: 37 Mins (Undocking)

Remember this is just Simulated.

I don't know if this is common knowledge, but here's a way to make refreshing active threads easier.

The link for the Launch thread is this:

http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=8272&posts=12&start=1

If you remove the stuff after "tid=8272"  so that the URL looks like this:

http://forum.nasaspaceflight.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=8272

It will automatically take you to the most recent post at the very end of the thread, even if it's on the next page.  So if you're like me and will be working during the countdown (but your boss is kind enough to allow you to have the webcast and forum open), all you need to do is mash the F5 button to refresh the thread to the most recent post.

Just be nice to NSF and maybe refresh once every 30 seconds or so. :)
