The module is the electromechanical test article for Zvezda. These photos of the Energia KiS room are very good. You can see a group of Block DM upper stages behind the Buran electromechanical test article, as well.

July 3, 2007. S.P. Korolev RSC Energia, Korolev, Moscow Region – Baikonur launch site, Kazakhstan
http://www.energia.ru/eng/news/news-2007/news_07-03.html

"Preparations are continuing at the Baikonur launch site for the launch of Progress M-61 logistics spacecraft, which is currently scheduled for launch on August 2, 2007.
Earlier, the launch of the spacecraft was moved from August 6 to July 23 to accommodate a prompt delivery of replacement computers to ISS.
Testing and isolation of faults that on June 11-12, 2007, caused glitches in the on-board computers on the Russian Segment of the International Space Station, and the follow-up detailed analysis revealed the need to deliver to ISS some additional hardware. The hardware is intended for restoring the normal operation of the computers and precluding interfacing systems from affecting their operation. Since some additional time was required for its development, manufacturing and testing, including tests in the integrated simulator of the Service Module Zvezda at the RSC Energia plant, S.P. Korolev RSC Energia managers and engineers suggested a new date for the launch.
Moving the launch of the logistics spacecraft to this date will also allow to meet earlier commitments with respect to the Japanese space agency to deliver to the space station the equipment needed to perform work under the Japanese program of space experiments.
Today, after having passed a cycle of electrical tests on the on-board systems, Progress M-61 is now under testing in the vacuum chamber"

24.12.2007 "progress M-61" works for the science

http://www.roscosmos.ru/NewsDoSele.asp?NEWSID=2705

on 22 December, 2007, 06 hours 59 minutes 52 seconds Moscow time automatic cargo ship "progress M-61" was unjointed from the international space station , after freeing stern moorage on the official module "star".

"progress M-61" was injected into orbit on 2 August, 2007. It delivered to the station more than two and one-half of the tons of different equipment, it was cargo and expendable materiallov. In the course of the joint flight with the station with the aid of the engines of this space truck it was executed two corrections of its orbit.

In the autonomous flight of ship "progress M-61" are planned the studies by the ground environment of the observation of the reflective characteristics of the plasma environment of automatic spacecraft with the work of its jet engines (experiment "Plasma- progress").
The producer of experiment - TSNII - CENTRAL SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH INSTITUTE are machine building (g. Korolev Moscow region).

On 18 January ship "progress M-61" will be brought from the orbit and will end its existence above the water area of the southern part of Pacific Ocean far from the navigable ways.
