Launch thread for the second SQX-1 (Shian Quxian-1, Hyperbola-1) orbital launch.
China launch schedule
2020
September October 21 (22:00) (delayed?) - Shuang Quxian-1 (Y2) - JSLC - Fangzhou-2
July 29
August 20
October 6
Are there sources for any of this information?
Is Fangzhou-2 a development from this Fangzhou-1?
There was a suborbital Chinese launch on June 17, [2019].
There was a student payload on board named Fangzhou-1 (Ark-1). The development of the experiment was supported by Beijing Hangke Ark Space Technology Co., Ltd..
The sounding-rocket was probably a TY-4B. The launch site was not identified.

In addition, in early February 2021, the Hyperbolic One Yao-2 launch vehicle independently developed by Interplanetary Glory will also be launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center and will enter a 550-kilometer sun-synchronous orbit according to the flight plan.

Seeing very vague reports from insiders that seems to indicate this has launched...and failed, but the metaphor is hard to decipher.
Awaiting further info here.

Seems like it disintegrated pretty early in flight? 🤔

Has anyone any information on the Fangzhou-2 satellite?

Do we have a more accurate launch time yet?

Looks like the rocket isn't flying in the right direction right from the start...
-
There was some drastic changes to this rocket with respect to the one on the 1st launch.

one of the "insiders" posted their vague message that hinted of launch problems at 0820 UTC so that would be the absolute latest t-0

Xinhua just made an official statement, 4 hours after launch at 08:15 UTC: https://m.weibo.cn/6528178851/4599883577427129 (https://m.weibo.cn/6528178851/4599883577427129)

Why is it that most Chinese private providers utilize solid-fueled launch vehicles rather than traditional liquid-fueled rockets?
Is it less risk?

Based on DongFeng (DF) missiles, reportedly DF-11, -15 or -21. Less risk, readily-available, governmental expertise transfer...
See GalacticPenguin's post/tweet (#22) on major changes for this launch which might (or might not) have contributed to today's failure after the company's initial successes.

Interesting!
Well, they should have announced that they didn't had any contract already with i-Space.

So for now, if I'm not mistaken, the only confirmed payloads are artworks.
According to the preliminary news, Star Glory cooperated with contemporary artist Xu Bing to create art based on space technology, and named the Double Curve 1 Remote 2 rocket as "Xu Bing Tianshu". The exterior of the first and second sub-stages of the rocket contains Xu Bing's independent artworks, and a pure metal magic cube inscribed with Xu Bing's representative work "The Book of Heaven" is carried in the payload bay.

They said that they did have a launch contract with them, but it was cancelled in December 2020. ::)

Translation of the relevant paragraph.
"Recently, network media reported that our company's "Ark 2 satellite" was launched on February 1, 2021 at The Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in China, the failed twin-curve 1 remote two carrier rocket. Our company needs to clarify that the content is false! Although our company and Beijing Star Glory Technology Co., Ltd. have a launch service relationship, but after friendly consultation between the two sides, the launch service relationship has been determined to terminate in December 2020, as of the date of this statement, has not re-established the launch service relationship."

As I speculated earlier in the Q&A threat this source (https://finance.sina.com.cn/tech/2021-02-01/doc-ikftssap2314302.shtml) is also using the designation No.95 for the launch complex. Not sure if this is a confirmation.

Investigation on the 2nd Chinese iSpace Hyperbola-1 rocket failure on Feb. 1 has completed, blaming on thermal protection foam falling off & getting stuck on Grid Fin no. IV that caused it to lock up momentarily. When the foam eventually break off, guidance control commanded that fin to made a 30+ deg. roll in a short time that resulted in vehicle break-up.
Wait, February 1st? That’s one heck of a co-incidence...

That sounds like integrator windup.
