Title: Jilin-1 Kuanfu-01(A), ÑuSat-7/8 - CZ-2D - Taiyuan - January 15, 2020, 02:53 UTC
Post by: Galactic Penguin SST on 12/18/2019 03:51 pm
The ÑuSat-7/8 source is from here: https://twitter.com/Satellogic/status/1206556951812943872 (https://twitter.com/Satellogic/status/1206556951812943872)

This CGWIC press release confirms that they (and previously also ÑuSat-6, though apparently it has moved to next year's Vega ride-share launch) will fly with Jilin-1 Wideband 01 on a CZ-2D (at that time planned for 2018): http://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/-A_3vcqsW76j8PQXPzOMfA (http://mp.weixin.qq.com/s/-A_3vcqsW76j8PQXPzOMfA)

Chinese sources indicate that this flight will originate from Taiyuan.

According to the latest Satellogic newsletter...

"On January 15, two NewSat Mark IV satellites will be launched from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in China. These spacecrafts, equipped with one-meter resolution multispectral cameras and 30-meter hyperspectral imaging capabilities, will be delivered to a sun-synchronous low-Earth orbit. Named “Sophie & Marie” after Sophie Germain and Marie Curie, these new satellites continue Ada & Maryam’s legacy, giving tribute to these outstanding Women in Science.

As we continue to increase our in-orbit capacity, an additional satellite is expected to launch in March from the Guiana Space Center in Kourou, French Guiana, on a Vega rocket; while our first LongMarch-6 dedicated rocket launch will happen by mid-2020 from China, to continue serving DSC customers and deliver data for solutions and imagery services."

Judging from the reports it seems that the company linked with Renmin-1 is a downstream user of Satellogic's satellites, so it might be referring to one of the ÑuSats.

The TQ satellite should be Tianqi-5 as 1-4 have already been launched.

The satellite successfully entered its intended orbit and the mission was a complete success. "Gilling 1" wide-format 01 star is a new high-performance optical remote sensing satellite developed by Changguang Satellite Technology Co., Ltd. The star fully inherits the "Jilin 1" satellite mature single machine and technical foundation, the first time the use of large-calibre large field of view telephoto distance axis three reverse optical system design, with high resolution, ultra-large width, high-speed storage, high-speed number transmission and so on. When the satellite is in orbit, it will network with the 15 "Gilling-1" satellites previously launched to provide more extensive remote sensing data and product services to government and industry users. The mission also carried three small satellites, including the New Sat 7/8 satellite and the Apocalypse Constellation 05. The NewSat7/8 satellite was developed by Satellogic, Argentina, and the Apocalyptic Constellation 05 star was commissioned by Beijing Guodian Gaoke Technology Co., Ltd. to develop Shanghai Ais Space Technology Co., Ltd.

I like how they translate Tianqi as Apocalypse. Tianqi literally mean knowlege/revelations from sky/heavens. Which more or less what apocalypse meant before the Apocalypse about the end times took over meaning of the word.

Speaking about the Jilin-1 satellite (mass 1.25 tonnes, main mirror  at 1.2 m diameter) - the company is claiming that its 136 km image swath width for < 1 m pan-chromatic/< 4 m multi-spectral image resolution is the widest of any commercial satellite in the world for sub-meter resolution (from 485 km altitude). Is this correct?
