Title: KL-Alpha (2x) - KZ-1A (Y7) - JSLC - November 17, 2019 (10:00 UTC)
Post by: Satori on 10/16/2019 09:31 am
KZ-1A (Y11) and KZ-1A (Y7) arrived at Jiuquan on October 14.

Apparently Y7 (scheduled for early November) (http://www.9ifly.cn/thread-91735-5-1.html) will launch two satellites known as "KL-Alpha" into different orbits. Some say these are scientific research satellites (one claim is that they are gravitational measurement satellites so probably yet another China Academy of Sciences payload?).

Does anyone have more info on "KL-Alpha"?

Will the delay of the Y11 launch postpone this launch as well?
Cross-post:
The launch has been scrubbed for the day according to the broadcast.

Apparently this is due to some guidance related issue.

So apparently "KL-Alpha" is short form for something like "Global Multimedia satellite system Phase Alpha" or something. (which makes me doubt the earlier linkage with the Chinese Academy of Sciences - maybe the operator is someone else?)

No, upper stage still working right now.

There are reports that the two satellites are going to different orbits so success confirmation should take quite a while.

Just now, the fast boat No. 1 carrier rocket successfully launched the alpha-phase A and B satellites (KL-α-A, KL-α-B) of the global multimedia satellite system in the Jiuquan satellite launch center. The alpha-phase A and B satellites (KL-α-A, KL-α-B) of the global multimedia satellite system are international cooperative commercial projects delivered by the Institute of Microsatellite Innovation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The satellite is mainly used for the Ka-band communication technology test, and the user is a German company.

Apparently the satellites are from CAS's Small Satellite Engineering Center (SSEC, which also built many of the BDS navigation satellites). but the operator is from Germany.

Stage 4 now cataloged in 331 x 1106 km orbit.
Based on the TLEs it looks like:
Satellite A deployed after end of first stage 4 burn, maybe around 1020 UTC,  in 1044 x 1058 km
  Stage 4 burn 2 at 1052 UTC to 1045 x 1432 km prior to Sat B sep
Stage 4 burn 3 at 1103 UTC to lower perigee

Yesterday's KZ-1A launch showed new flexibility for this small Chinese LV. After launch at 1000 UTC it deployed sat A in a 1050 km circ orbit; stage 4 restarted at 1052 UTC to 1045 x 1432 km, then deployed sat B; then restarted again at 1103 UTC for depletion to 331 x 1106 km..
