Title: Unidentified space hardware in Sunnyvale
Post by: tdrssb on 06/05/2019 02:40 pm
Does anyone have an idea what this is? It is located on Lockheed Martin property at Plant One (Sunnyvale, California).

Cylindrical object with internal truss, and what looks like a human-sized hatch on the side.

That's shaped an awful lot like an ISS node, but the gap between the inner and outer diameter at the end is odd.  Looks like a ground mockup of.... something.

Here's a similar (if not that exact) piece of hardware on Google Maps.  It appears to be facing the wrong way relative to the picture, so either the map image is out of date or there's another one I haven't found yet.

I also can't seem to find a building on the campus that matches what's in the background in the photo.

That's the same piece. A colleague of mine rides the bike trail on the perimeter and asked about it. The photo is from a few years earlier (hence the different background).
