HY-2 is a second generation ocean observation/monitoring satellite series approved by CNSA (China National Space Administration) Beijing in Feb. 2007. The HY-2A mission represents a follow-up of the HY-1A and HY-1B missions.

The overall objective of HY-2 is the measurement of ocean dynamic and environmental parameters in the microwave region (i.e., all weather observations). The requirements call also for the collection of data on marine wind setup (wind vector), marine surface height, and SST (Sea Surface Temperature), along with aero-marine forecasts for the prevention and relief of disaster.

Haiyang-2A's orbit (same source):
Quote
Orbit: Near sun-synchronous frozen orbit, altitude = 971 km, inclination of 99.3º, period = 104.45 minutes. Equator crossing time on descending node at 6:00 hours, repeat cycle: two phase (14 days and 168 days).

Will HY-2B complement, or replace, HY-2A?
(same source):
Quote
According to WMO, the HY-2A mission is operational in 2016 in its 5th year on orbit.

CNES contributed an instrument to the HY-2A mission.

Per Chinese rumors there should be a launch out of Taiyuan "relatively soon", with a CASC built payload.

According to the few Chinese articles around HY-2B is in the same configuration as HY-2A launched in 2011 (https://directory.eoportal.org/web/eoportal/satellite-missions/h/hy-2a). There were some tweaks like new rubidium clocks for the radar altimeters, but there are no major changes.

sohu.com has the same story but says 29 kg. Go figure.
AliExpress is an online retailer that's part of the big AliBaba group. From what I can tell from the articles
its mission is to send annoying advertising messages to shoppers' mobile phones.

Edit: not clear which object it is  - there is HY-2B, rocket stage and 3 debris objects.  One of the debris
objects may be Candy Can, or it could be attached to the rocket stage, or not yet cataloged

According to National Natural Science Foundation of China, space junk (the rocket stage) was turned into a "mini space station". http://www.nsfc.gov.cn/publish/portal0/tab446/info74515.htm
Translated with Google: "The final stage of the original launch... could stay in space for more than 10 years and eventually become space junk. Now turning waste into treasure"
"install the power system, measurement and control communication system, navigation and positioning system, control management system and other modules and transform it into a test platform"
It seems the rocket stage is the "Candy Can"

Edit: same story posted on CNSA http://www.cnsa.gov.cn/n6758824/n6759219/c6803465/content.html
