Live update thread for Flight Day 7 for STS-115 (EVA-3).
Attached are overview screenshots of FD7 on the 207 page STS-115 Final Flight Plan and related information L2's 115 documentation.
"The EVA-3 schedule, covering 6.5 hrs, is being replanned, for the following objectives:
Installing BGA (Beta Gimbal Assembly) shoulder bolt retainers on the P6 truss;
Releasing cinches and winch bars to deploy the new PVR (Photovoltaic Radiator);
Reconfiguring the foot restraint (APFR) at P4-20 and relocating a second APFR as get-ahead for 12A.1;
Releasing IEA MMOD ((Integrated Electronic Assembly Micrometeoroid/Orbital Debris) cover bolts on P4;
Clearing the rail path for MT relocation to WS-8 by removing the obstructing safety tether cable;
Removing & replacing the string 1 BSP (Baseband Signal Processor) and transponder on the S1 truss;
Installing the Ku-band AGIT (Antenna Group Interface Tube) heat shield;
Installing an EWIS (External Wireless Instrumentation System) antenna on the Lab for tracking docking loads (P4 carries six quarter-size three-axis-sensitive EWIS RSU {Remote Sensor Unit} accelerometers placed around the outboard integrated truss structure);
Retrieving MISSE-5 (Materials ISS Experiment 5);
Removing & replacing the SASA (S-band Antenna Support Assembly) on the S1 truss with a spare unit (failed SASA to be relocated to the Z1 truss, protected with shrouds), and
Taking infrared imagery of the Orbiter leading edge and, if time permits, of an ISS PVR radiator."

I truly have missed these blow by blow forums... But with Canadians in space breaking tools and loosing bolts, here on earth, in Canada.. I can watch NATV on the web.. but cannot connect to this site (simple routing issue - Thanks Ted).. its driving me nuts.. so please forgive me if I ask one question that may have been covered on the last EVA... and a question relevent to this EVA
On this EVA a teather will be moved, that is interfering with the MT route out to the end of P3, what was moved/release ( on EVA 2) to allow the MT to move from P1 to P3, and do we have any pics...?
When will the MT move out onto P3 and can it move accross the joint onto P4?

They mentioned in today's briefing that it's a spare tether and the position it's clipped at allowed a section of it to drift up enough to be a possible hazard on that side of the transporter track. They'll either move it to a safer location or just bring it back in.

The last WS on P3/S3 is just a bit back from the end of the truss. It can't move further than that (no rails on the solar array trusses).

What is the trouble that has cropped up just now? I couldn't hear the PAO very well due to too low volume on the player.
They asked the crew in the airlock if they smelled some unusual smell but reply was no, as far as I understand.

The power controller for the air lock depress pump tripped off, so they'll need to spend some time running through troubleshooting procedures to find the cause and what to do to get it working again.

RPC will be reset. Backup plan is to vent the airlock overboard. Are we slipping behind schedule now?

With Joe and Heidi out there, starting out an hour or two behind the timeline shouldn't be too much trouble. :)

Still in final depress and checkouts, should be popping the airlock hatch in a few minutes.

Is air lock depress pump problem solved ?

I can't listen to the commentary. (I am at work. ;) )
Has there been a delay because of the problems with the depress pump? And, if so, is there an impact on maximum EVA duration or were the EMU's not on internal power yet?

Both spacewalkers are out of the airlock... and first task is MISSE retrieval.

While Heide is retrieving MISSE 5, Tanner is installing the restraints in the BGAs.

Is there some concern about the leading edges? I thought Alantis was cleared to land without any damage. Did I misunderstand?

Probably it's some kind of experimental procedure to do IR scans to RCC panels... they did something like that on STS-121...

It will be more to test the infrared imagery than the Orbiters leading edge.

Tanner is helping Piper with the radiator deploy, before relocating the foot restraints and getting to SASA.

Now Piper and Tanner are resuming the S-band antenna replacement. They had to stop so that vibrations induced through their foot restraints wouldn't interfere with the PVR deployement.

Planned duration of EVA-3: 6 hours and 30 minutes.

How did the CMG's respond to the rotation test of the P4 arrays? It seems to be a very long, fairly massive, asymmetric moment arm. When was the last time the CMg's were de-saturated?

They weren't rotated in the extended configuration.

I don't recall the CMGs ever being mentioned, either by MCC or the station. That's good, I suppose.

The ground team often commanded free drift or shuttle attitude control during the 'big' motions so because the CMG's were never engaged they were never saturated.

Anyone know what this issue was with the S-band assembly. It seemed it was expected to be straightforward, but on site the EVAers said something would have to be rotated 180 degrees in order to be in the correct position to lock. Didn't catch what that was all about, but that's when Tanner started to tryand loosen some screws which were too tight. Was this some oversight on the planning side (not knowing what configuration it was in)?

Next activities are: Piper will upgrade the S-band antenna in S1 and Tanner will put a thermal cover over the Ku-band antenna.

JT just reported the KU heat shield was created by real professionals. It fits like a glove.

EVA 3 is about to wrap up. JT is done with his tasks.

MISSION STATUS BRIEFING with John McCullough and John Haensly.

EVA 3 was delayed a little due to a tripped circuit breaker. The circuit was overloaded with the vacuum pump and heaters which kicked in.
P4 is self sustaining now the PVR is extended.
S-Band system is being checked out and is working.
