A solid fuel KZ-1A Kuaizhou-1A rocket will be launched from Jiuquan in December 2016. One of the satellites on board looks like to be a Jilin sat.
Can anyone help in translating the following from chinaspaceflight.com: 中新社武汉9月11日电 (记者 张素)中国航天科工运载技术研究院副院长张镝11日在武汉表示,拟在今年12月用快舟一号运载火箭发射“吉林一号”灵巧视频星03星及两颗立方体星。快舟十一号运载火箭将在2017年进行首次商业发射。

"News Agency, Wuhan, September 11 (Xinhua Zhang Su) Vice President of the China Aerospace Science and Industry Research Institute of vehicle technology dysprosium 11th in Wuhan, to be held in December this year by fast boat first rocket launch "Jilin first," smart video 03 star and two cube star. 11th launch vehicles in 2017 and fast boats for commercial launches for the first time."

I'd understand this as
[China Aerospace Science and Industry Corp.] [Launch vehicles Technology Research Institute] [Vice-President] [Zhang Di] on 11th in Wuhan said to be in [this December] with [KZ-1 rocket] launch ["Jilin One"] [smart video satellite 03 Star] and [two cubes Star]. [KZ-11 launch vehicle] will be the first commercial launch in 2017.
So the main payload would be Lingqiao Shipin 03 of the Jilin-1 family of satellites. Two previous smart video satellites were launched with Jilin-1 per se.

So, we have Lingqiao-1 (3) and two CubeSats in this launch.
-
Does that mean that Lingqiao A and Lingqiao B are actually Lingqiao 1-01 and Lingqiao 1-02, respectively?
-
Kuaizhou-1 scheduled to launch in December (http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2016-11/03/c_135801422.htm).

probably.
-
Does anyone know, what the differences between Kuaizhou-1A and Kuaizhou-1 are? Kuaizhou-1A for seperable payloads and Kuaizhou-1 for payloads integrated with the final stage?

This is what my impressions are judging from Chinese sources.
-
According to Chinaspaceflight.com, this launch will take place in late December.
-
Satellite by the end of November before leaving the factory assessment, the end of December estimated to keep up with the launch?

Since the second Kuaizhou satellite decayed from orbit on October 9th this year, I would have expected another of these birds to have been launched.
-
KZ-1A to be launched on December 31.
-
Sats on this launch are Jilin-1 (3), Xingyun Shiyan-1 and Kaidun-1 'Canton-1'.
Jilin-1 (3) is a high resolution video observation satellite.
Kaidun-1 will be used for maritime management (?)
-
According to Chinaspaceflight.com the launch was delayed to January 2017.

The source is a certain Weibo user (who I think works in CAST or some other big organization) who has been spot on with all Chinese launches since 2015, so this should be credible.

Not Canton-1, Caton-1 for the Beijing company "Caton Technology Co.", a subsidiary of a California video streaming company.

According to https://www.chinaspaceflight.com/satellite/Jilin1/Jilin1-03-KZ-1A.html
This is the first mission contract between Chang Guang Satellite
Technology Ltd (CGSTL) and EXPACE/CASIC. Jilin-1 Smart Video Sat 3 is
now called 吉林林业一号卫星 (Jilin linye yihao weixing, Jilin
Forestry 1 Satellite). There are two 2U cubesats: Caton-1
(凯盾一号) for Beijing Caton Universal Technology Ltd. (a.k.a. Caton
Technology (Beijing) Co. Ltd) and 行云试验一号 (Xingyun Shiyan yi
hao, Starcloud Test 1) for the 航天科工第九总体设计部
(Hangtian kegong di jiu zongti sheji bu, CASIC 9th Academy), which I think is also known
as the 中国三江航天集团 (Zhongguo sanjiang hagtian jituan, China
Sanjiang Space Group) based in Hankou, Hubei province.
The rocket is KZ-1A Y1
I welcome corrections from sinophone readers.

Also, https://www.chinaspaceflight.com/satellite/caton/caton-1.html
says that Caton is involved in ship traffic management and AIS. It doesn't say anything about the payload of Caton-1
itself, but an AIS ship-tracking receiver seems like a good bet.
-
https://www.chinaspaceflight.com is reporting a January 6 launch date with the launch time around noon local.
-
Seems like January 9 is now confirmed as the target:

We could really use some photos, anything, even in processing, of this vehicle. I'm struggling ;)

Thanks guys!

Nothing reported yet about this - though I don't expect anything otherwise for something that is very much a mobile ICBM in the middle of the desert. :P
There might be a chance the website of EXSPACE might announce the launch faster than the state media so watch out for that too. ;)

China launches commercial rocket mission Kuaizhou-1A
http://news.xinhuanet.com/english/2017-01/09/c_135967088.htm
JIUQUAN, Gansu, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- The rocket Kuaizhou-1A (KZ-1A) has sent three satellites into space in its first commercial mission on Monday.
The rocket, carrying the satellite JL-1 and two CubeSats XY-S1 and Caton-1, blasted off from northwestern China's Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center at around 12:11 p.m. Monday Beijing Time, according to a statement from the center.
The KZ-1A was developed from the Kuaizhou-1 rocket with improvements in adaptability. It is a low-cost solid-fuelled carrier rocket with high reliability and short preparation period and was designed to launch low-orbit satellites weighing under 300 kg.
The JL-1 is a multifunctional remote-sensing satellite providing high-definition video images which is expected to be used for land resource and forestry surveying, environmental protection, transport and disaster prevention and relief purposes.
The XY-S1 and Caton-1 are experimental satellites to test technologies of low-orbit narrow-band communication and VHF Data Exchange System (VDES) respectively.
A rocket technology company under the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation was responsible for the launch mission. The success of the mission marks the company's capability of providing flexible, convenient, quick and economical launch services for domestic and overseas clients, said the statement.

From the Users Guide, the N2O4/MMH bipropellant fourth stage "Propulsion Control Module" appears to perform an initial separation burn from the third stage, followed by a several minute coast and, finally, a 5 to 6 minute long insertion burn for 700 km SSO missions. At 0.4 g maximum acceleration, I would guess that the propulsion system provides 100 to 200 kgf thrust. The module also appears to provide pitch/yaw/roll control during Stage 2 and 3 phases, including coast.
Any information on the solid motor stage thrusts?

From what I gather from CCTV the main paylod was Jilin-1 (03). I think that's strange since Jilin-1 (01) was launched on a CZ-2D and there does not seem to be a Jilin-1 (02). Plus Jilin-1 (01) seemd too heavy to be launched on a KZ-1A.
Any idea on what Jilin-1 (03) really is? Gunter's space page has is as http://space.skyrocket.de/doc_sdat/lingqiao.htm (http://space.skyrocket.de/doc_sdat/lingqiao.htm)

try page 17 Table 2.1 in the L2 posted KZ1A UG
That chart gives "Impulse" in "Newton-seconds per Kilogram". This should be specific impulse when divided by 9.81 m/sec^2 rather than thrust in Newtons. Or am I off-base?

There were 4 satellites in the October 2015 launch. 2 of the 3 secondary payloads (not the main sat) are for video shooting with 1.3 m resolution. The main satellite on this flight follows these 2.

Kuaizhou series are for commercial launches, the cost of which is over 20000 USD per kilo now with KZ-1A.
CASIC aims to bring the cost down to 10000USD/kg with KZ-11 of which the maiden flight is expected end of this year.
By 2025 and with KZ-21, the cost per kilo will see a further cut to 1000 USD.
CASIC's ultimate goal is a few hundreds USD per kilo.
