Title: STS-115 EVA teams
Post by: Ben E on 07/23/2006 11:12 pm
Having just read the new STS-115 crew interviews on spaceflight.nasa.gov, I'm intrigued that the mission will involve three EVAs, rather than the four that (I thought) were originally scheduled.

The schedule is for Tanner and Piper to do EVAs 1 and 3 and Burbank and MacLean to do EVA 2. I thought the general rule of thumb was that missions with four or more EVAs had dual EVA teams, whereas those with three EVAs or less only had a single EVA team. What's the story with STS-115?

Am I correct in thinking that there were originally four EVAs planned on STS-115? If so, what's happened to EVA 4?

The rule is no  back to back EVA's (2 in 2 days) for the same crew as explained in other threads.
