Hi,
I couldn't find the answer for this question, neither here nor on the internet in large.
I would like to make a list with all the earth observation satellites from which data can be received for free. whether it is a weather satellite or otherwise.
thanks.

All Landsat data is available for free....
Web viewer: http://landsatlook.usgs.gov/
Download: http://glcf.umd.edu/data/landsat/
Also, check noaa.gov for weather satellite data.

Thanks for the answer kevin-rf.
I know about the free data available for Landsat and other satellites over the internet, but this is not what I am looking for. what I am doing is actually part of a Ground Station design project, this ground station should receive the data directly from the satellite. as far as I know, there are some satellites from which one can receive and use the data for no cost, names of these satellites is what I am looking for.

What about the upcoming DISCOVR? Back when it was Triana, the whole point was to provide a live picture of Earth for the masses.

Thanks once more kevin-rf.
OK, I am looking for a list of satellites, it will look like
1- NOAA weather satellites
2- Terra
3-

.
one can setup a ground station and receive from any of them.
the list is what I am looking for, just the names of the satellites from which one can receive & use data for free.

Thanks once more kevin-rf.

A few cubesats would qualify. Look around on above quoted rtl-sdr.com (http://www.rtl-sdr.com/category/satellite/) and links like listed at the bottom of the page here https://2014.spaceappschallenge.org/challenge/virtual-ground-station-app-global-crowdsourcing-cu/
If you are starting from scratch, obtain one of the popular SDR hardware (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software-defined_radio#Amateur_and_home_use) bits ( like http://sdr.osmocom.org , FunCUBE ) and get an understanding on how to operate and receive with one of these (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_software-defined_radios)
