Title: Canceled NRO Launch for Atlas V 521 Q/A
Post by: ZachS09 on 08/16/2013 04:51 pm
What day in 2007 and what exact Pacific Standard Time would the Atlas V 521 have launched the NROL-29 payload? Any ideas?

Doubt that the thingy even reached such an advanced stage of development......

I am sure that there's a better place for the post above.

Based on Jim's response, I had to look up what we assume NROL-29 was.

It is assumed that is was one of the two canceled FIA-O optical imaging satellites. ( http://space.skyrocket.de/doc_sat/nrol.htm )
Considering how over budget and behind schedule these birds where, it is doubtful that anything more than a 2007 placeholder that kept slipping to the right was used.

The good news is, NASA my someday launch the optics as a space telescope ;)
