As we're only a day away from the planned ET-118 shipment day(May 30), is there any updates onw whether it is going to ship tommorow as planned or will there be delays?
This is a little time-critical as the STS-115 stack must be ready to support the rescue launch on STS-300-

Anyone know what the drop-dead date is for shipping ET 118 to KSC and still being able to have it ready to support a possible STS-300 for STS-121? :)
-
Maybe these answers will be forthcoming during the Space Shuttle Program Update. I hope the media will pose more questions than during the last Space Shuttle Program Update. ;)
-
Any updates from MAF on how it's going with ET-118?
According to schedule, it should ship today...
-
I've read nothing on the 'net about it shipping today. Usually there is a news release when it's ready to ship... ;)
-
So if it was suppose to ship on the 30th and there hasn't been a news release and today is the 31st does that mean that its late and behind schedule?
-
Behind schedule. It's set to arrive mid June now. STS-115 (and 300) are very tight now.

Could we ultimitely see a delay in STS-121 if the 300 stack isn't ready in time to support rescue capabilities, or are they considering extending the amount of time the 121 crew could seek safe-haven on the ISS? :)

Excellent question.
I reckon they'll extend CSCS timescales...it would have to be a showstopper of a delay to force 121 to delay.

Anyone heard any recent numers on how long ISS could support the STS-121 crew?
-
ET-118 left New Orleans today at 11.15 CDT.

This was discussed in general terms during the ISS status briefing prior to the recent EVA; at the time of the briefing, the CSCS capability was said to be around 80 days (versus the 47 days "quoted" in the briefing as the time necessary to get Atlantis ready to support that). So that would imply there's some "padding" for getting this tank ready for the STS-300 / launch on need.

And from today's front page story:
Meanwhile, ET-118 - set to fly with Atlantis on STS-115 (STS-300) begun its journey from New Orleans on Tuesday, for an arrival at KSC on June 11.
I've just posted some additional photos taken of the departure by a reader, who was at Michoud on Monday. According to the above NASA link, ET-118 is scheduled to arrive June 9. Has there been a delay?
-
The MAF schedule appears to be different to the NASA schedule. I'll go asking again....but if someone was actually there, than that automatically beats a schedule read by me in England :)

Post deleted (not related specifically to ET-118 - Chris).

I don't know that today's review is related to shipping ET118?

You're right, that's related to all ETs (primarly ET-119).
-
I heard ET-118 will arrive tomorrow on the press briefing today.
-
ET-118 arriving at Port Canaveral at 8:00am EDT.

Well, since it is 11:18 am EDT, let's see when it shows up in the VAB.

I'll ask about this with the ET mechs at KSC:
From the status reports.
On Monday, workers in the Vehicle Assembly Building inadvertently
bumped ET-118, the STS-115 external fuel tank, with a mobile work
platform, causing an indentation in the foam insulation about 3/8 of
an inch deep. The damage is on the upper part of the tank just left
of the centerline. The area will be fixed and thoroughly analyzed and
inspected. The repair work is not expected to affect the
launch-on-need support for the STS-121 mission or STS-115.
