How is Proton able to deploy 2 satellites? Is Luch somehow able to support the mass of the Israeli satellite?
Do I understand this right? Luch might be able to communicate with Phobos-Grunt?
Was the bottom satellite designed specifically so another could be mounted on top of it?
Will this government launch have a live broadcast?
The Tsenki site says that the broadcast should start about two hours before launch but 70 minutes before launch there's nothing showing.
just me, or is audio off again for this launch
ah! Use mms://www.space-center.ru/video Nice audio there!!!
I keep getting a white rotating circle in the centre of the screen. Any ideas what it is? The broadband is working well, so I doubt it's that.

Not seen anything that shows the Briz-M orbits as it manoeuvres. Is there a Khrunichev document with this?
Firefighters at the launch pad - is this normal?
But I have not observed the 2nd stage trace falling down on the diagram from Khrunitchev. Is-it normal?

Yes. I've compared with previous diagrams and we don't see the 2nd stage trace falling down.

2nd stage reentry.
So does the Russian segment need any new equipment to transmit KU-band for Luch or will it go through the USOS Ku-band antenna? If the russian side is independent, any chance of sharing data from both sides as was previously done on the USOS for the Russian side?

I remember that (at least for Zvezda) there are unused antennae specifically designed for the Luch system. I might be wrong though.
With the satellites’ foldable mechanical structures successfully deployed, AMOS-5 and Loutch-5A have entered the attitude determination phase.from: http://www.iss-reshetnev.com/?cid=news&nid=218 (http://www.iss-reshetnev.com/?cid=news&nid=218)
Amos-5 (which is an Express-1000N)Jonathan, the name of the platform is given as Express 1000H in English by ISS Reshetnev (so the H does not seem to be Cyrillic for N here :) )
The spacecraft is based on ISS Reshetnev’s Express 1000H unpressurized platformfrom http://www.iss-reshetnev.com/?cid=news&nid=218
Jonathan, the name of the platform is given as Express 1000H in English by ISS Reshetnev (so the H does not seem to be Cyrillic for N here :) )But the russian version of this same press release speaks of Экспресс-1000Н which would transliterate to Express 1000N ??!

To add to the topic of the name of the Amos-5 platform, here is the flyer from Reshetnev apparently setting for an "H" in EnglishQuoteJonathan, the name of the platform is given as Express 1000H in English by ISS Reshetnev (so the H does not seem to be Cyrillic for N here :) )But the russian version of this same press release speaks of Экспресс-1000Н which would transliterate to Express 1000N ??!

There is absolutely no doubt that it is Ekspress-1000N, since the latin letter H has no equivalent in Cyrillic alphabet. Thanks Nicolas, but I'm not convinced.
Any idea why the fairing was rotated vertical? That's not normally done for the commercial launches.
Could our Russian colleagues step in and tell us what is the correct designation of Amos-5 platform in English?
And do you know what the "H" stands for ?From an ISS Reshetnev PDF from 2007, they had this platforms:

Ekspress-1000H.
If you download the PDF Reshetnev Magazine Number 8 (http://www.iss-reshetnev.com/images/File/magazin/2009/m8-screen_en.pdf) on page 8 they state their Express Platform. Thanks Anik. Ekspress-1000H.
And do you know what the "H" stands for ?From an ISS Reshetnev PDF from 2007, they had this platforms:
Express-1000A: Loutch-5A/B
Express-1000K: Express-MD/AT2
Express-1000H: Amos-5/Telekom-3/Yamal-300K
Express-1000SH: Express-AM8/AT1
Express-2000: Express-AM5/AM6
The PDF is badly exporte, but it seemed like the K and H could put a second satellite on top. The K is the smallest one, the H is next, the SH is lengthened yet, and last the 2000 is the biggest one.
Since the export didn't put some letters, I'm assuming K can be stack upto three on a Proton-M with Briz-M or DM-03 US, the H can take two, and the SH can take a secondary >1200kg satellite, ll with the above stated Proton-M.

Ekspress-1000H.
So Andrey, you are saying that when we see "Экспресс-1000Н" in a Russian document, the "Н" is an English H and not a Cyrillic N?

Jonathan, I do not know exactly, but if I see Экспресс-1000SH platform in Russian, I understand that it is Ekspress-1000SH in English, so H in Russian is H in English in this case.
So ... when is Luch going to provide transmission service for the ISS Russian segment?
According to NK forum, one stellar sensor on Luch-5A is dead.stellar sensor=Star tracker?

Yes ! Russian -> French -> English translations are sometimes hasardous... :)Russian -> French -> English-> Spanish ;)

AMOS-5 has suffered a sudden LOS and, after 3 days of no improvement, seems to have failed within GEO. If the situation is irreversible, there is another zombiesat in the belt.At least its not of the rare type of zombiesat that still transmits but doesn't recieve data
