NTV schedule:

Missed the wakeup song (but it definitely wasn't hard rock).
PAO event today will be US elementary school students. Stand by for potty questions :o (they've screened these in the past so maybe not).
EDIT: It's NASA Explorer students. :) Our future PHALCONs and THORs.
-
Into orbital sunset.
ISS Orbit 3 FD Scott Stover previously said MBS and SSRMS repositioned (MBS to WS-4 and SSRMS walkoff) by the ground overnight, and new batteries are being charged at 10A (normal charge is 50A and new batteries get 10A at first).
-
The wakeup song was Lord We Have Seen the Rising Sun by Matt Redman for Mike.
-
The focus of this morning's activities:
-
How about an execute package:
http://www.nasa.gov/pdf/456959main_FD09.pdf (http://www.nasa.gov/pdf/456959main_FD09.pdf)
-
CDR wants to push the ROBO up on the timeline, and complete all of today's activities prior to the PAO event.
-
How about an execute package:
http://www.nasa.gov/pdf/456959main_FD09.pdf (http://www.nasa.gov/pdf/456959main_FD09.pdf)
Check out the names starting on page 6.
Transfer is 79% complete.
Wow that's a lot of EVA tools to restow. Also lots of EVA prep for transfer to Atlantis.
-
Still in POST-SLEEP.
Lots of robotic arms:
-
Despite 29 hours of cyro savings, the mission has not been extended. Same was with Atlantis' last flight STS-129. However, Endeavour STS-130 and Discovery 131 missions were extended on orbit. Hence, are the extensions connected to some limitations of Atlantis or STS-129/132 has performed exceptionally well, and that no extension was required? (although the shuttle can stay longer in space). Could not the ground have added few extra duties for the crew to perform? (as the shuttle days are now numbered)
-
ICC on the move.
-
-
-
-
On Steve's post, she's done very well, given she's without SSPTS.
-
They've come to a stop for the moment.
-
Only one CWC remaining on transfers to complete water ops for the mission.
-
We're on the move again.
-
I spy with my little eye, something begining with A.
-
Big thanks from Garrett for the Cupola and the views. "We've not needed any of the screens, we can see everything we need from here safely."
-
Pausing.
-
And moving again.
-
Tracy wants to start T2 excerises, having to wait for robo to complete (which appears to have started late).
-
-
Heading into orbital sunrise.
-
Now the tricky bit:
-
-
Someone getting very excited about an incorrect barcode on some wetwipes "the truth is....and I've written the truth" :)
-
New camera angle, huzzah!
-
In the high hovver position.
-
Split screen multiplayer
-
Not entirely sure if the cameras are properly aligned for this final move
-
Here we go, into berth position.
Kyle notes this is the Keel camera view (very nice).
-
-
-
Fine tuning the approach. Garrett most likely relying on camera monitored than just through the Cupola windows now.
-
Great view of the Carrier being guided into the Payload Assembly Latches.
-
We might of lost Ku right at the end. Might be coming back :)
-
Cupola in the upper right.
-
-
Ready to latch!
-
Four great talkbacks.
-
Tony and Garrett confirm go to latch.
-
Latched on 3 and 4. Go for limping (never heard that before).
-
Go for forward latches.
-
No Ku.
Confirmed ICC is latched. Go for SSRMS release.
-
4:50am Central for time of ICC robo ops complete.
-
And Ku's back with a view of the ICC back in its Atlantis PLB home.
-
Next step is to release the SSRMS grapple fixture. Passing over China.
-
SSRMS: Latching End Effector releasing the grapple pin.
-
5:01am Central for ungrapple.
-
SSRMS moving away
-
And into orbital sunset
-
Peirs and Garrett praising the people involved with Robo training for the last big arm ops for the mission.
Tony has a go for transitioning the OBSS to undock.
-
That's pretty much it bar transfer calls until an education event in an hour or so.
Mike will be keeping an eye on things for the interim.
-
That's pretty much it bar transfer calls until an education event in an hour or so.
Indeed, for an hour and 10 minutes :
-
Silence over the loop.
-
And we have sunrise :
-
Someone from crew talked while ago with MCC-H about tools reconfiguration (trash bags, some tools and f.e. MLI from EVA-1) as the transfer activity continues.
Complex passed over central Brasil 3 minutes ago :
-
Tony has a Go to proceed with OBSS move to undock position.
They asked about couple of minutes for preparation.
So far we have SSRMS in view :
-
Passing over West Sahara and Maroko:
-
They will be centrally over Madrid in few moments. OBSS in view :
-
Tony Antonelli will maneuver SRMS+OBSS in to stable position before undocking.
View from payload bay cam:
-
Arm in motion:
-
Over Russia/Kazakhstan border.
Tony reported that maneuver is completed. Robo ops are finished for couple od days.
-
Need leave in couple of minutes (my green fence awaits for cut :)).
Educational event in 10 minutes. Session of crew with students and kids.
-
Event in progress. Questions are predictable, however I didn't know that TJ knows german (there was question about used language up there).
They are in Kibo :
-
Some kid asked about how they feel on that last mission of Atlantis. Ken answered that maybe it isn't the last one (he added that if it is then it's a great honor to participate in that).
Questions were recorded earlier...
-
Some "Soichi shots" for ya!
The first one shows sunrise/sunset seen from the Cupola.
The second one shows Aurora & Atlantis!
-
Question 'if they are taking some medicines to stop bone structure damaging'. Of course answer was negative.. :P
Well, event is over.
-
My godness Pete, these are great! :)
What's the rack/experiment Soichi is working now? He pulled it out :
-
Crew should have now scheduled meal.
Tracy in Lab:
-
Thanks Mike. Crew now in off duty time. MSB in 90 mins.

Mike: Today is a welcome shift in the (pace) of STS-132. Completed all tasks, ICC back in the PLB. Three great EVAs and MRM-1 installed. Now we aim to return Atlantis home early next week.
Robotics were handled in an exceptional manner. The crews of Atlantis and ISS complimented the folks who plan the robotics and built the Cupola. I'll just second those words. SSRMS performed very well, Canadarm2 is an outstanding peice of machinary.
FD9 has some off duty time. Final transfers on FD10. Close hatches midday, undock around 10:22 Central. One lap flyaround. Conducted some science today where they measured their spinal growth.
Will undock. Nominal Late Inspections, then put away the booms for the final robotics of the mission.
Currently transfering 70lbs of O2. Small hurdle transfering it, with the O2 transfer system. 10lbs of N2, and 1200 of 1300 of water now on ISS, rest tomorrow.
MRM-1 being integrated with the ISS systems. Hatches open for a day and a half now cleaning the air. Will hook up some ducting later today.
-
Robert up first on Late Inspection:
Mike: Spent some time reviewing all the inspection imagery. Plan is to perform normal procedures. Will skip the tile surveys and concentrate on RCC. Happy with ascent imagery, FD2 inspections, RPM, and the EVA-1 imagery. Just need to do the standard orbital debris inspections.
And on flyaround - and Atlantis' last time.
Mike: We always capture the shuttle departing. We haven't found the need to provide any special images of Atlantis (for her last time).
Philip's there :) on the O2 transfers and consumables.
Mike: Any consumables we can't transfer we augument...so we have three extension days worth of capability, any additional would be added to the third day (would take a lot more to make four days). Specialists are reviewing the O2 transfer problem, with a plan this afternoon.
-
Breaking up phone line, didn't hear it.
Mike worked it out: Idea is to undock at the end of the day, and inspections the following day. In the past we (have done it differently). Teams thought it best to undock three days before we land.
No additional cargo on the ICC, past that which was planned.
Irene: Info on transfers.
Mike: We have all the EMUs. Stowage items, UPA hardware and water from those systems, trash, clothing etc.
On Atlantis' performance from the Aussie guy:
Mike: Atlantis has been a remarkable vehicle and is on the mission right now. We had a problem with the OBSS PTU was an easy task, a few smaller glitches. But Atlantis being a well designed vehicle continues to perform very well and we're very greatful for that.
Notes he doesn't get much of a chance to see launches due to his Houston roles, but has an opportunity to go see the landing. I spoke to the flow director and I promised to bring her back safely.
(That was a nice way to end it).
-
That FD8 article image is awesome, would have made a great desktop image. Too bad NASA didn't release those images. Seriously the coolest in orbit photo of the shuttle I've seen in a long while.
-
I'm sure other have asked about the pic that goes with Chris B's "STS-132: Extensive evaluations" article.
Stitch perhaps?
Anyone know which thread has a copy?
Thanks!

As someone who is not very political or technical and grew up watching
Apollo flights on the BBC with the great Patrick Moore the Shuttle is
indeed a trully amazing machine. But in this world of 24 hr rolling news and X Factor politics apart from the cost of Shuttle launches the fact is there is no real escape system once she is climbing the hill unlike previous crafts and I think this still worries the politicians etc.
Having said that to end the Shuttle program without a viable replacement
is so wrong and I hope we havent seen the last of Atlantis.
Great site, very informative as usual

For FD-9.
From ISS Daily Report for 22/05/2010:
With Piers Sellers & Garrett Reisman operating the SSRMS, the ICC-VLD, carrying the six old P6 Truss batteries, was successfully transferred to the Shuttle PLB and berthed securely for return.
Preparatory to tomorrow’s Atlantis undocking, Noguchi reconfigured the O2 (oxygen) transfer equipment from its pre-breathing configuration and initiated the pump-over of gaseous O2 from the Shuttle to the ISS HPGT (High Pressure Gas Tank) on the outside of the A/L. [MCC-Houston performed the necessary reconfiguration of the A/L CCAA (Common Cabin Air Assembly). Transfer of a total of 73 lbs of O2 has been approved.]
Later, Soichi terminated N2 (nitrogen) transfer from Atlantis to the ISS.
Kornienko & Skvortsov spent several hours on cargo transfer from the newly arrived MRM-1 module to the ISS, and then Mikhail installed a VD1 air duct between MRM-1 and the FGB for ventilation.

It looks like they have removed the VBA (Vestibule Barrier Assembly). I should imagine they are shooting some video of the IMV (Inter Module Ventilation) valve config, as they have just tore-down the ventilation ducting (that orange tube you can see in PMA-2).

Atlantis just flew over Florida which Hock commented with "Field in sight". Capcom answered that with "a little bit high on the 180 though"

Thanks for helping to build the ISS, Atlantis!
Well said Pete, well said.

Now over 5,000 (nearly a mile) sep from ISS. 4 fps.

Scrub that, they've brought it forward an hour to 2pm Central.

Oops, someone's accidentially deleted a card with 138 images on it. Told to bag the original card and they'll try and recover it on the ground.
Kenn: "This is exactly why we should fly as many cards as we can."
Capcom: "I know, our bad".
Good to see they are only human ;)
-
Wow MCC took that very well for potentially loosing 138 images!

Let's stick this here ;D

yes, very well said
I can't even imagine what the final two flights will be like, especially Discovery's.
I don't even want to think about it to be honest

If they just did a regular delete of the images you can recover them in 99% of the cases as long as you don't put anything new on the card (taking new photos). So MCC don't really have any reason to be worried.

MSB starting shortly..

Brian Lunney representing MOD.
All P6 batteries are operating well. Outlining the large amount of upmass and downmass.
Beautiful flyaround. Attached a flashlight to illuminate a docking light.
Late Inspections tomorrow, and FD12 EOM-1 for checkouts. Hopefully a successful landing at KSC on Wednesday, weather permitting.
-
On the O2 transfer from Robert.
Brian, all the O2 was transfered. 30 lbs pushed into the atmosphere.
On the call about the deleted images.
Brian, was the camera card placed into the laptop. Mistake on the ground deleted (or they told the crew it was ok to delete) part of the ISS external survey during flyaround. Other cards with photos of the survey are ok. Hope to recover them.
On weather for KSC from Bill.
Brian, not looked closely at the weather, it's Florida.
Tariq on late inspections.
Brian, looked at all the data from FD2 and FD3 some wasn't optimum (the shading). Will have a full resolution on Late Inspections. Fully expect things to look good.
And that's over already.

Crew heading into pre-sleep.

I don't know what kind of cards they are using but I have almost totally recovered photos deleted from an SD card through a format command issued from the camera.

They are using CF cards so it's the same deal with them. There are special software for recovery of deleted data.

From ISS Daily Report for 23/05/2010:
ISS and Atlantis are flying in separate orbits again following undocking earlier today.
Crew activities before and during undocking included:
. FE-2 Caldwell-Dyson & FE-5 Noguchi reviewing DCB (Double Cold Bag)
sample packing & transfer procedures, then transferring the remaining
bio samples to the Shuttle.
. Timothy & Ken Ham terminating O2 (oxygen) pump-over to the ISS and
tearing down the O2 transfer equipment [Total O2 transferred: 63 lbs,
with 47 lbs going to the HGPT (High Pressure Gas Tank) mounted
outside the A/L, the remainder going to A/L campout prebreathing.
Total N2 (nitrogen) transferred: 19 lbs].
After the undocking:
. TJ & Tracy depressed PMA-2 and conducted the subsequent leak
check (by periodically monitoring pressure readings) at the
MPEV (Manual Pressure Equalization Valve).
. Soichi Noguchi removed the THC (Temperature & Humidity Control)
IMV (Inter Module Ventilation) air duct in Node 2.
TJ configured the PDGF retrieved from Atlantis’s PLB during EVA-3 for final stowage in the A/L CL (Crew Lock).
After Shuttle departure, Oleg Kotov & Sasha Skvortsov had another 2 hours set aside for transferring cargo from MRM-1, keeping a running account of the moves in the IMS (Inventory Management System).
