According to Novosti kosmonavtiki forum, the launch of Zenit-3SLB rocket with DM-SLB upper stage and Telstar 11N satellite is currently scheduled for December 21st, 2008.

Quote from http://www.russianspaceweb.com/2008.html#manifest
"As of beginning of October 2008, the launch date was dependent on the departure of the damaged Measat 1R satellite, which went through de-fueling process, but had to be decontaminated and certified for the return to the US. If everything went as planned, Telstar 11N would be shipped to Baikonur in mid-November 2008"

"In order for Telstar to meet the launch window opening on Dec. 21, 2008, it had to be delivered to Baikonur on Nov. 15, 2008. Otherwise, the mission would likely to be delayed to the end of March - beginning of April 2009".
According to Novosti kosmonavtiki forum, the launch date is January 11, 2009 now.
-
I was told the satellite will possibly arrive to cosmodrome on December 1st. But it depends on results of investigation of incidents with MeaSat-3a satellite.
-
The launch is currently scheduled on February 26, but there is rumour about April also.

13-01-2009 KA “Telstar 11N” is delivered to the technical complex for the preparation
http://www.roscosmos.ru/NewsDoSele.asp?NEWSID=5159
Today at 5 A.M. msk container with the automatic spacecraft “Telstar -11N” and accessory equipment are delivered on area 31, where in the assembly and testing housing work on the preparation of automatic spacecraft for the starting will be carried out.
Automatic spacecraft “Telstar -11N” was delivered to the spaceport Baikonur yesterday by the aircraft of AN 124-100 “Ruslan” with KA “Telstar -11N”. Before beginning works on unloading of container and equipment from the aircraft
under the management of the specialists of the center of industrial safety and industrial safety measures [TSENKI] was carried out the training with the weight mock-up. In the evening on January 12 container with KA and accessory equipment were submerged to the flatcars and prepared for the transportation to the technical complex.
The starting of KA “Telstar -11[N]” is planned WITH [RKN] the zenith -2S at the end of February.
-
"Preparations are underway for the launch of the Telstar 11N satellite on the Land Launch system in February. Space Systems/Loral (SS/L) built this satellite for Telesat, one of the world's leading fixed satellite services operators, to provide high powered, state-of-the-art satellite capacity for a broad range of video and data applications. With 39 high-power Ku-band transponders, Telstar 11N, weighing about 4010 kg (8,840 lb), is based on the SS/L 1300 platform which provides flexibility for a broad range of applications. The spacecraft also has a unique Atlantic Ocean beam, which will support growing demand for mobile broadband from maritime and aeronautical markets. Following launch, Telstar 11N will operate from 37.5 degrees West Longitude and will connect the continents of North America, Europe and Africa."

Any idea what the other Zenit is for? MEASAT?
There was news in January of a Zenit being delivered to Baikonur for the Spektr R mission. It is likely that hardware.

Yes it's for Spektr-R.

Does that mean it can be used for a different launch? Another federal or commercial?

If it is really a rocket for Spektr-R, then it is Zenit-2SB80 rocket, which can be used only with Fregat-SB upper stage, so not for commercial launches, but for launches of Elektro-L and Fobos-Grunt.

This is 100% correct name for this rocket. You will see it in all official documentation in russian. I believe "SL" means "Sea Launch" modification and it is always written using english characters. And russian "Б" (B) is a further modification for Baikonur (Land launch).
Зенит-3SLБ = 2SБ60 (from Yuzhnoe) + ДМ-SLБ (Block DM-SLB - from Energia). Block DM is used as a 3rd stage (hence number 3 in 3SLБ)

How about Зенит-3SLБФ, Зенит-2SБ40, Зенит-2SБ60, Зенит-2SБ80, Зенит-Ф40, all this came to Russian papers from Ukrainian official papers. So, blame them for "semi-kyrillic", Roscosmos usually use names as they are in contracts. :)

The feed isn't very good though (understatement - it's nearly as bad as the Venesat webcast).

Keep trying, it sometimes takes a few attempts.
Failing that, we'll have to make do with Vesti.

Is it possible to have the exact lift-off time for this launch in format 1830:XX.XXXUTC?
Thanks!

Block DM shutdown.

According to the Land Launch mission page, launch was at 18:29:55.

Sorry I missed this, had a manufacturing processes test at the time. however it does not seem too much of a loss considering the lack of proper video.

We are awaiting confirmation of acquisition of the first signals from the satellite in orbit from the Gnangara ground station, near Perth, Australia.

Well - lot's of luck to the boys and girls at Telesat with IOT ahead. Personally - I did alot of preliminary ops work on the vehicle before being laid off by Telesat last fall. It's a beast of a satellite comm payload wise.........

Simply put (and not to bust proprietary data), Loral changed the way the CPU's 'talk' to the subsystems, and how the subs talk back to the CPU's. Simply, the previous system used analog to dig/dig-dig mux's, and demuxes used dig to dig/analog to dig, with most data transferred to and from the demux's/mux's to the CPU's via coax, naturally with some hard-wired I/Fs for critical commanding req's. Omega uses a LAN/WAN based system (hubs/routers) that I/F to components, most having a 'smart-chip' used to I/F with the Hubs (the chip performs the analog to dig conversions in the subs component). A mix of weight savings (the Demux/Mux units were fairly large-heavy-old tech stuff) and modernization. Nothing earth-shaking here.
No real change in sub-systems (attitude controls/payload/TT&C/thermal, etc) either.....
I think that's it. Maybe VT might have something to add IF he remembers; I've gotten rid of and forgottten most of technical stuff related since I was let go, and I have a feeling VT shares my minor forgetting 'dilemma' as well......

Very interesting. In a list of designations for imaging satellites, it
refers to the 11F695 and the 11F695U. The former is the Kobal't spysat,
and the latter, which I haven't seen before, is presumably the new
Kobal't-M.
There's also a list of spacecraft: "Al'fa", "71Kh6", "102E".
71Kh6 is the US-KMO geostationary early warning satellite; I wonder what the others are.

I think "Al'fa" = Alpha = ISS.
As far as I can tell they talk about Khartron developing control systems for the MLM module (that is currently scheduled for launch in 2011)
