Title: Russian launch coverage and video quality
Post by: C5C6 on 12/14/2007 01:33 pm
why does every russian vehicle launch are filmed in such low quality??? And why isn't there such a launch coverage as for american Shuttles or ELV launches??? It seems like nobody cares about those launchs and there's no need of a PAO and appropiate video shots......

Obviously the russian budged isn't as big as the american one, by the way I'm not asking for such good coverages as the american ones with dozens of cams......but at least a good long-range one???

Unfortunately it is so. Russian space organizations have no culture of publicity, so no one wants to spend extra cash and effort to find and recruit good PAO specialists and HD video equipment.

Perhaps it's because long range from the pads is Kazakhstan.

Starsem is doing a pretty good job providing live streaming.....given the fact that the pads not as modern as in the state (not that they need to be, hey it has worked fine since the 1960s)

and yes there is better video but thats not transmitted live, however the cams on the pad are pretty good and they are recorded, what starsem could (i'll ask them) do is provided higher res video as a download (i know this means more money spend on hosting this...)
I'm going to Kazakhstan next year so i will see what I can do....
