Today is an EVA day. During the #VKD55 Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitri Petelin and Anna Kikina will prepare the radiator for transfer from the Rassvet to the Nauka module. Dmitry and Sergey will egress the #Poisk module at 14:20 UTC while Anna will operate the #ERA robotic arm.
NASA: Cosmonauts Sergei Prokopiev and Dmitry Petelin perform final checks inside the Poisk module before opening the hatch to begin the VKD-55 spacewalk...
Mission control communications with the crew indicate that spacwalkers are ready to switch their suits to autonomous power supply (marking start of spacewalk in NASA tradition)...
Petelin (blue stripes on his Orlan suit) is seen outside Poisk:
Something floated away from the module a couple of minutes ago.
RS EVA-55: For ID, Prokopyev, call sign EV-1, is making his 3rd spacewalk and is wearing Orlan MKS suit No. 5 with red stripes and using helmet camera 16 while Petelin, EV-2, is making his first EVA wearing suit No. 4 with blue stripes; he's using helmetcam 22
Spacewalkers Prokopyev and Petelin opened the hatch of the Poisk airlock at 9:39am ET today, beginning their spacewalk. More details.. go.nasa.gov/3V2V515
Cosmonauts work at the Rassvet module on the Earth-facing side of the station with the Soyuz MS-22 spacecraft seen at the top of the screen. They are currently identifying and releasing launch restraints for the radiator that will be relocated on the next spacewalk on Nov. 25.
Cosmonauts now completed main task of the spacewalk – draining nitrogen gas from the radiator system to be installed on the Nauka module later this month...
RS EVA-55: Prokopyev and Petelin are an hour ahead of schedule working through their timeline, freeing restraints on a radiator that later will be moved to the Nauka module and venting nitrogen in its hydraulic lines; gorgeous views today!
Cosmonauts are now transferring to the Nauka module for the installation of the payload attachment platform, the final objective of the VKD-55 spacewalk:
Cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitri Petelin are conducting the first of four Russian maintenance spacewalks planned before the end of the year as the station orbits 260 miles above the coast of Brazil. Watch now... https://nasa.gov/live
More than 5 hours into the VKD-55 spacewalk, cosmonauts are finishing installation of the large payload platform on the Nauka module, before returning to the ISS:
The radiator goes on the other side of the module. The SKKO is primarily designed for attaching Earth Observation payloads such as radars, cameras, LIDAR, spectrometers and other experiments.
Cosmonauts Sergey Prokopyev and Dmitri Petelin completed the first of four Russian maintenance spacewalks planned before the end of the year at 4:07pm ET today.
Cosmonauts Finish Spacewalk for Work on Science ModuleMark GarciaPosted on November 17, 2022Expedition 68 Commander Sergey Prokopyev and Flight Engineer Dmitri Petelin, both of Roscosmos, concluded their spacewalk at 4:07 p.m. EST after 6 hours and 25 minutes.Prokopyev and Petelin completed their major objective, preparing a radiator on the Rassvet module for installation on the Nauka multipurpose laboratory module. This was the third spacewalk in Prokopyev’s career, and the first for Petelin. It was the tenth spacewalk at the station in 2022 and the 255th spacewalk for space station assembly, maintenance, and upgrades.
A (relative) good view of the structure that will accommodate the radiator.
