The crew of the ISS-67 coped with emergency situations during the "docking" of the truck
02/16/202216:05
Today, February 16, 2022, Oleg Artemyev, the prime crew commander of the 67th long-term expedition to the International Space Station, and flight engineer Denis Matveyev, took an exam on the Teleoperator simulator.
They were faced with the task of docking the Progress MS cargo ship with the station in teleoperator control mode. In reality, the docking should take place automatically, but in case of failure of the automation, the astronauts take over the remote control of the unmanned spacecraft.
During the exam, the crew docked the Progress MS spacecraft to the nodes of various modules of the Russian segment of the International Space Station and practiced possible emergency situations. Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Artemiev and Denis Matveev did an excellent job with all the tasks.
It is symbolic that on the day when the main crew of ISS-67 passed the exam on the Teleoperator simulator, the crew of ISS-66 was preparing to receive the Progress MS-19 cargo spacecraft, which is now on its way to the station. Roscosmos cosmonauts Anton Shkaplerov and Pyotr Dubrov checked the equipment that, in the event of an emergency, would be needed to switch to teleoperator control mode, studied the flight documentation and conducted the necessary training. The docking of the new cargo spacecraft with the ISS is scheduled for February 17 at 10:06 Moscow time.

The crew of the ISS-67 is ready for emergency situations during landing
02/18/202215:57
On the basis of the centrifuge TsF-18, a specialized simulator for manual controlled descent TS-18 operates, which makes it possible to train cosmonauts to control the Soyuz MS spacecraft under the influence of a real overload that the crew experiences during return from orbit to Earth.
At the exam, cosmonauts demonstrate the algorithm of actions that must be performed if there is a failure in the automation during the descent of the vehicle or a recommendation is made to switch to a manually controlled descent.
The crew commander and the flight engineer take the exam in turn. There are two modes - static and dynamic. The cosmonaut performs some tasks while in a stationary centrifuge, others when the centrifuge is in motion. The main thing is to “land” the descent vehicle with minimal overload and as close as possible to the calculated point.
The ISS-67 backup crew commander Sergei Prokopiev and flight engineer Dmitry Petelin were the first to pass this exam, then Oleg Artemiev, ISS-67 prime crew commander and flight engineer Denis Matveev. Both crews earned the highest marks from the examiners.
Next week, the ISS-67 crews will have comprehensive examination training, after which the cosmonauts will go to Baikonur and continue preparing for the flight. The launch of the Soyuz MS-21 manned spacecraft is scheduled for March 18, 2022.

Crews of ISS-67 started examination complex training
22.02.2022 18:12
Today, February 22, 2022, the prime and backup crews of ISS-67 have started complex examination training, based on the results of which a decision will be made to continue their training for the flight at the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
The exam was taken by the ISS-67 backup crew consisting of Roscosmos cosmonauts Sergei Prokopiev, Dmitry Petelin and Anna Kikina on the Soyuz MS transport manned spacecraft simulator. Only crew commander Sergei Prokopyev has experience in space flight.
“My duty is to teach those who are preparing for the first flight. I tried to pass on my knowledge to my colleagues. We had a lot of joint training already as part of the crew, I hope that we approached the exam at the peak of our form, - said Sergey Prokopiev . “Now we need to be collected and focused, carefully work with on-board documentation and try not to make mistakes.”
Meanwhile, Roscosmos cosmonauts Oleg Artemiev, Denis Matveev and Sergei Korsakov were preparing to take the exam on the simulator of the Russian segment of the International Space Station. As is known, members of the ISS-67 prime crew graduated from Baumanka in different years. The launch of the Soyuz MS-21 spacecraft, scheduled for March 18, 2022, has already been called the Bauman launch. Crew commander Oleg Artemiev stressed that they have a well-coordinated team. Recall that for the first time in many years, a crew consisting entirely of Russian cosmonauts should go to the ISS.
Oleg Artemiev is waiting for the third expedition to orbit, his flight engineers - the first. They are grateful to their commander for helping to prepare for the flight.
“Our commander is experienced, flying. He told us about all the nuances of being on the International Space Station. This is very important,” stressed Denis Matveev , ISS-67 prime crew flight engineer .
Deputy Head of the CPC for Science and Development Vladimir Dubinin spoke about the scientific program of Expedition 67 to the ISS. He noted that current research and experiments will continue, and in addition to them, the astronauts will have to perform new tasks related, for example, to the implementation of the Protective Composite project and the launch of nanosatellites.
Before the exams, both crews drew out tickets with a list of emergency and emergency situations that CPC instructors simulate for them. What kind of tests to be passed, the crew members will find out only during the training, initially the tickets are sealed.
Today, backups, among other unforeseen situations, were expected by: false operation of the pressure regulator of the descent vehicle during the launch phase; failure of the automatic rendezvous circuit during berthing, which led to the transition to manual mode; sensor failure in the docking and internal transition system; an irremediable fire in the descent vehicle during undocking from the ISS, which required an urgent descent.
The ticket of the main crew of ISS-67, who took the exam on the ISS Russian Segment simulator, included: communication interruptions, problems with the air purification system, malfunctions of the sewage and sanitary installation, ammonia release on the ISS American Segment

ISS-67 crews successfully completed the examination session
24.02.2022 18:19
Examination complex trainings, in which the ISS-67 crews participate, are the final stage of their preparation for the flight on the basis of the Cosmonaut Training Center. The cosmonauts must demonstrate teamwork while operating the Soyuz MS spacecraft and the ability to successfully fulfill their professional duties on the Russian Segment of the International Space Station.
Exam tickets include abnormal and emergency situations. The crew needs to notice a malfunction or deviation from the norm in a timely manner, recognize a possible threat and demonstrate to the examiners an algorithm for solving the problem.
Today, February 24, 2022, the ISS-67 prime crew consisting of Oleg Artemiev, Denis Matveev and Sergey Korsakov passed the exam on the Soyuz MS spacecraft simulator. Two days earlier, the cosmonauts brilliantly coped with all the tasks on the ISS Russian segment simulator.
Oleg Artemyev, the ISS-67 crew commander, who has already been in space twice, noticed a paradox: while in flight he had not had to deal with those emergency situations that were given in exams. However, you have to be ready for anything. In his crew, Oleg Artemyev is confident that the cosmonauts have repeatedly practiced actions in the event of any unforeseen situation and will be able to quickly find a solution to the problem.
As for today's exam on the Soyuz MS spacecraft simulator, among the situations that the CTC instructors simulated for the ISS-67 prime crew were: failure to pass the command to separate the spacecraft from the launch vehicle, a failure in the orientation of the spacecraft on berthing to the station, sensor failure docking systems, depressurization of the descent vehicle, and more.
The backup crew of ISS-67 consisting of Sergey Prokopyev, Dmitry Petelin and Anna Kikina took an exam on the ISS Russian segment simulator today. They also shared their impressions of their previous exam training, which took place on the Soyuz spacecraft simulator. Dmitry Petelin noted that it is very important to recognize the occurrence of an emergency situation, so it is necessary to carefully monitor the parameters of the devices. Anna Kikina stressed that in order to successfully pass the exam, you need to work smoothly, confidently and calmly.
During the examination training on the simulator of the Russian segment of the ISS, the backups had to deal with such situations as: failure of the receiver (PRM) VHF1, failure of the electromagnetic KE2 valve to open in the Electron system, a fire on the Russian segment of the station, which cannot be eliminated. Both crews successfully coped with their tasks and showed good results.
At the time when the astronauts were taking their exams, a solemn ceremony of handing over a volleyball to be sent to the International Space Station took place at the CTC. To achieve this goal, the Center was visited by Roman Stanislavov, Director General of the Organizing Committee of the Championship, and Alexander Yaremenko, Vice President of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation, as well as the tiger Tigrosh, the mascot of the upcoming games.
Recently, Roscosmos cosmonaut Denis Matveev (flight engineer-1 of the ISS-67 prime crew) became the ambassador of the FIVB Volleyball World Championship 2022 from the host city of St. Petersburg. Tournaments will be held in different cities of Russia from August 26 to September 11, 2022.
The honorable mission to receive the ball and hand it over to the crew, which will go to the ISS in March, fell to the Hero of Russia, the pilot-cosmonaut of the Russian Federation, the deputy head of the Center and the commander of the Roscosmos cosmonaut detachment Oleg Kononenko.
“We are happy to support the Championship. I myself played volleyball, I have the first adult category in this sport. Astronauts working on the ISS always support major sports tournaments and, as you know, they even played badminton and football,” said Oleg Kononenko .
Tomorrow, at the pre-flight press conference, the ISS-67 crew will be presented with the symbol of the Championship for its delivery into orbit.

Bauman cosmonauts and their understudies spoke about the upcoming expedition to the ISS
25.02.202221:32
The prime and backup crews of ISS-67 took part in the pre-flight press conference dedicated to the launch of the Soyuz MS-21 transport manned spacecraft, which is scheduled for March 18, 2022.
The main crew includes three Roscosmos cosmonauts - Oleg Artemiev, Denis Matveev and Sergey Korsakov, all of them are graduates of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University of different years. The backup crew is also completely Russian: Sergey Prokopiev, Dmitry Petelin and Anna Kikina.
According to the conclusion of the Interdepartmental Commission, whose meeting ended a few minutes before the start of the press conference, the crews are ready to fly under the Expedition 67 program and can proceed to the final stage of pre-launch preparation at Baikonur.
The press conference was held online. The astronauts answered questions received in advance from journalists and social media users. Media representatives drew attention to the fact that the launch of the Soyuz MS-21 spacecraft is associated with two dates: the 115th anniversary of the birth of S.P. Korolev, which is celebrated in 2022, and the next anniversary of the first manned spacewalk . March 18, 1965 Alexei Leonov left his ship.
The ISS-67 main crew commander Oleg Artemiev said that he was glad of this coincidence, he regarded it as a good sign and hoped to go out into open space more than once during the next expedition. He also recalled that the Soyuz MS-21 spacecraft was named after S.P. Korolev, and the emblem of N.E. Bauman Moscow State Technical University will be applied to the body of the launch vehicle.
Denis Matveev was asked how difficult the preparation for the flight was, in addition, he had never been an understudy. The cosmonaut did not deny that the lack of duplication experience added to the complexity, but noted that the crew helped him a lot. This was confirmed by the high marks in the exams that the astronauts passed.
Of great interest to journalists and users of social networks was the news that Denis Matveev became the ambassador of the FIVB Volleyball World Championship 2022, the tournaments of which are to be held in different cities of Russia from August 26 to September 11, 2022. The ISS-67 prime crew flight engineer had the honor of delivering a volleyball with the tournament symbols into orbit. Denis Matveev noted that it was a great honor for him. The crew will try to organize a volleyball match at the station as a sign of support for the athletes.
Traditionally, at pre-flight press conferences, questions are asked about the weightlessness indicator, which astronauts take on a flight, and the call sign of the crew. Oleg Artemiev replied that due to the fact that the crew is completely Russian, the call sign "Don" was chosen in honor of the river flowing in the European part of our country. As for the weightless indicator, there are many options, but right now the crew is still in the process of choosing. Usually the indicator is a children's toy no more than ten centimeters.
Many questions were also addressed to the ISS-67 backup crew, one of the main ones was whether they managed to work together during the pre-flight preparation period and would like to go into space in the same composition (usually the backup crew becomes the main one for the next expedition).
Crew commander Sergei Prokopyev expressed the hope that the composition of the crew would not change. The cosmonaut emphasized that their team is close-knit, ready to support each other and work effectively on the ISS, regardless of whether Anna Kikina goes into orbit on a Russian or American spacecraft.
A significant number of questions were received from subscribers of the CPC pages on social networks, but not all of them were asked during the broadcast. The astronauts will choose the top three questions, and autographed photos of the crew will be sent to their authors.
