Today, a crew readiness assessment committee met at the Cosmonaut Training Center.

The prime and backup crews of Expedition 74 to the ISS are ready to fly on Soyuz MS-28! The next stage is prelaunch preparations at Baikonur.

Prime Crew
▪️ Roscosmos Cosmonaut, Sergey Kud-Sverchkov
▪️ Roscosmos Cosmonaut, Sergey Mikayev
▪️ NASA Astronaut, Christopher Williams

Backup Crew
▪️ Roscosmos Cosmonaut, Pyotr Dubrov
▪️ Roscosmos Cosmonaut, Anna Kikina
▪️ NASA Astronaut, Anil Menon

The planned duration of work on board the station is 242 days.

Also, today the manned spacecraft is undergoing a "test illumination" of its solar panels: this is how they test the efficiency of converting light into electricity.

On November was held a press-conference at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center with the crews of ISS-74 (Sergey Kud-Sverchkov, Sergey Mikayev, Pyotr Dubrov, Anna Kikina, Christopher Williams, and Anil Menon).

The prime crew commander Sergey Kud-Sverchkov spoke about planned experiments in biotechnology, medicine, technical research, and Earth and space exploration.

The cosmonauts will conduct two spacewalks:

🔵Install equipment for the Solntse-Terahertz experiment (study of solar electromagnetic radiation in the terahertz range).
🔵Continue the Ekran-M experiment.

According to Roscosmos Telegram... Cosmonauts and astronauts tried on the spacecraft: pre-launch training began at Baikonur.

On November 12:

Both crew..

familiarized themselves with the cargo stowage in the habitation module and the descent module
checked the spacecraft controls: attitude, motion, and descent controls
worked with the standard equipment—the pulse laser rangefinder (necessary for manual control of the Soyuz in emergency situations)
checked the suits' tightness and assessed their usability
inspected the equipment to be delivered on board

Today, the crew will have a flag-raising ceremony for the countries participating in the launch, as well as a visit to the memorial sites of Baikonur.

On November 14, the Soyuz MS-28 was fueled with propellant and compressed gases.

The spacecraft will now be transported to the assembly and test facility for cargo stowage, hatch seal testing, photography, installation of the vacuum shield insulation, weighing, and docking with the launch vehicle's transfer compartment.

Soyuz MS-28 was docked with the Transfer Compartment

Preparations for the new spacecraft to the ISS are nearing completion at Baikonur.

📎 The transfer compartment is part of the spacecraft's payload module and provides mechanical connection between the spacecraft and the payload fairing, as well as integration of the Soyuz command interface into the rocket's onboard control system.

Before docking, the spacecraft was weighed and prepared for cargo stowage.

From Roscosmos Telegram...

A ginger space cat and a knitted cosmonaut: zero-gravity indicators

A crew consisting of Sergei Kud-Sverchkov, Sergei Mikayev, and Christopher Williams will launch to the ISS on November 27.

▶️ A special feature of this mission will be two unusual "passengers" – zero-gravity indicators, which will help the cosmonauts visually confirm the spacecraft's entry into orbit.

During the flight, the indicators perform an important signaling function.

The cosmonauts will also be accompanied on the flight by:
▪️ A ginger cat named Gizmo, a gift from the family of one of the cosmonauts.

▪️ A knitted cosmonaut, made by students from School No. 1 in Gagarin. It will be taken on the flight at the students' request and then returned to the school museum as a memento of their meeting.

From Roscosmos Telegram...

Soyuz MS-28 Preparations: Fairing Rolling

Today, Roscosmos specialists conducted a technical inspection of the spacecraft, rolled the payload fairing onto it, and prepared the assembly and protection unit for launch readiness testing.

📎 The payload fairing protects the spacecraft from aerodynamic and thermal loads in the dense layers of the atmosphere during orbital insertion.

▶️ The spacecraft is loaded with over 125 kg of cargo: photo and video equipment, removable media, consumables, personal items, food rations, and kits for scientific experiments.
