What is the difference between Glonass-K and Glonass-K2?
The Glonass-K2 differs from the Glonass-K in having CDMA signals, and improved accuracy, but also in being 70% heavier and having 170% more power.

Support your local planetarium! (COVID-panic and forward: Now more than ever.) My current avatar is saying "i wants to go uppies!" Yes, there are God-given rights. Do you wish to gainsay the Declaration of Independence?

Glonass-M 721 (plane 2, launched Christmas 2007) has been under maintenance since July 30th.
It is transmitting again, but currently only the L1 signal.
We will see whether it can be put back into operation without L2.
If not, a replacement will have to be launched.
Also only the L1 signal is transmitted by 721's sister satellite 723 and the 733 (2009) in plane 1 and the 732 (2010) in plane 3.

The Glonass M 721 signal is healthy again. (source Galmon.eu and my phone)
but now only L1 signal, according to Galmon

After Glonass-M 721 went back into operation without L2 during the week, Glonass-M 723 is now undergoing maintenance.
Since it has also only been sending L1 signals from 2016, there is no GNSS monitoring (Russian, DLR, others?).
So little can be said about its health. Normally, 2 replacement satellites would be necessary in plane 2.

Glonass M 723 is back in operation.
Whenever this satellite was to be replaced in the past, something went wrong or another satellite failed.
Slots 11 -> 12 -> 10
Proton launch failure ... Glonass-M 737 failure ...717 lost ...753 failure.
