Some of the best I have ever seen--and I've seen a LOT, hehe. Thank you!
Thanks guys, I appreciate it. It's been a real pleasure having the opportunity to shoot the shuttle from so close. Hopefully I will have many more to share soon.
I seem to vaguely remember seeing it on the 29th somewhere, but I can't for the life of me remember where. Maybe at the KSCVC near the rocket garden or the entrance? I have to admit I wasn't quite aware during those early morning hours.
I took a few with my phone.. . .
5: From Playlinda Beach on May 2th.
Quote from: Davejfb on 05/08/2011 05:51 pm5: From Playlinda Beach on May 2th.Can you tell me exactly where you were at Playalinda Beach? I tried to get a view of the pads from there after 133 launched but had no luck. I ended up having a swarm of ATV's come at me telling me to get out of the area. I parked in lot 1 and started walking towards the pads. I didn't jump any fences, cross any lines or see any restricted signs but I guess I wasn't supposed to be there.
www.ov-103.comPictures from Endeavour's first launch attempt. Not sure I'll be able to get back down next week. Enjoy.
A quick cut of the view from Haulover Canal. I know where I'll be watching STS-135 from...
And shuttlefanatic, I second the request to know what kind of gear you got those shots with. That does indeed look like a great vantage point.

Just finished my first run through my photos of the day....
I was wondering what spot you was at for these shots as they look real close?
Quote from: mrhuggy on 05/16/2011 09:10 pmI was wondering what spot you was at for these shots as they look real close? It was definitely a very legal spot I was on the lawn in front of LCC. There is this one tiny spot there, where trees are smaller and you can see the pad.

Meaning one way turns into the woods by the RR tracks while the other runs along the crawlerway?
Felt as if the roar was LOUDER due to the cloud deck versus STS-133.
Quote from: gchockry on 05/18/2011 02:38 pmFelt as if the roar was LOUDER due to the cloud deck versus STS-133.I can confirm the roar traveled farther/louder than any launch I've ever known... some of my family stayed behind in the town of Clermont (east of Orlando and about 70 miles from the pad). They were in two different buildings in two different parts of town at the time of launch, but both felt their building shake in exactly the way the rumbles from the launch sound (slow gradual increase to mid-intensity, then a sharp drop-off, pause, and then a spike up to high intensity, and then a slow gradual fading away). I've seen a lot of launches from Orlando/Clermont, but I've never heard let alone FELT anything from that distance away. Those clouds must have been just the perfect altitude...
Here is the link to video of the 24 hours in Florida for STS-134. We watched the launch alongside the third bus east of the drawbridge.http://www.reachuplink.org/images/sts/sts_134/video/index_mba.html

While at your site I viewed your gallery of stills, and showed them to my wife since they captured the experience better than my photos. Best of all, I was able to prove to her conclusively that I was at the launch - you got a picture of me standing in the bleachers in img_5201 ! Might I have permission to use that photo for personal use (email to kids, Facebook album etc)?
Here are just a few I took during remote camera set-up. By the way, if you look closely on the second pic, you will see that the ET-122 Logo did in fact fly on this mission!
Just caught a short bright pass of ISS and Endeavour here in SoCal.Appeared in Cassiopia and headed for the horizon, both nice and bright, and Endeavour was trailing a very prominant haze cloud from all the RCS action no mistaking which was which....
4:49 am from Cincinnati. Sad that,s the last pass ill see with them both up there.
Edit:I had thought my lens filter needed cleaning, but this post suggests the haze around the trail is from the RCS thruster activity:
Wow, amazing video. What is the trail composed of? Or why is there that trail?
Found this video someone posted of Endeavour's reentry over Mexico today. WOW!

Quote from: K466 on 06/01/2011 08:06 pmWow, amazing video. What is the trail composed of? Or why is there that trail? That is plasma, which is atmospheric gases that have been compressed to a temperature hotter than the surface of the Sun so it glows. Think of it as the wake around a ship, except that it is the surface of the sun.
