Setting up a thread specific to personal photos surrounding STS-134, partly because the viewing thread is now a monster and the below link was sent to me....which includes high VIP access shots.

http://outdoors.webshots.com/photo/2016005440000926706HbYwek

Feel free to attach selected photos you've taken (providing they aren't massive file sizes), embed (again, only selective, no more than two per post and not "wider" than the page size) or link up to your personal album.

For L2 members, the L2 STS-134 Special already has a huge collection of exclusive images - use:

Oh WOW, yes! I can just imagine someone trying to reverse that thing into a parking space - you'd need to buy three tickets if the wings were deployed! :D

I know your pictures from A.net.
They are amazing and of such great quality.

I love the Shuttle truck too!
I wonder if an aircraft could be built that would look exactly like a Space Shuttle? Not a Space plane. Just an airplane.

Sarah,

Could you please tell us a bit more about the shuttle truck? :) Possibly the company that owns it, or something like that. I couldn't make out the name on the door.

I too love the truck!! We need to make it the official NSF truck. Chris and Phil can drive it to the press events.

Many thanks for any info you can give us and thanks to everyone for sharing your photos.  :)

I seem to vaguely remember seeing it on the 29th somewhere, but I can't for the life of me remember where.  Maybe at the KSCVC near the rocket garden or the entrance?  I have to admit I wasn't quite aware during those early morning hours.

I'd love that opportunity, too... but sadly I know that my photos wouldn't be anywhere close to the quality of yours.  Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the info. I tried to find the owners but it was just sitting there all by itself with no one around it.

5:  From Playlinda Beach on May 2th.

Can you tell me exactly where you were at Playalinda Beach? I tried to get a view of the pads from there after 133 launched but had no luck. I ended up having a swarm of ATV's come at me telling me to get out of the area. I parked in lot 1 and started walking towards the pads. I didn't jump any fences, cross any lines or see any restricted signs but I guess I wasn't supposed to be there. :-\

Thank you all for your contributions.

I love the time lapse video and I love the night shots best, those with the lightnings make it look even more dramatic.

We parked also on lot 1 (the first parking lot), walked up the wooden ramp to the beach and walked towards the right. and after about 2 km jou see wooden polls in the ground. And then at the right sight you see a wooden ramp and a security tower. And the photo was taken on that wooden ramp.

After all the shuttle missions I've tried to be present for, Titusville is like a second home to me.  Driving down the highway and seeing the shuttle lit up on the pad the night before the launch still brings a tingle to my spine every time.

This is the view from Kennedy Point Park about 30 minutes ago.

And shuttlefanatic, I second the request to know what kind of gear you got those shots with. That does indeed look like a great vantage point.

I shot those with a Rebel T2i with 100-400L IS lens.

I picked the spot after watching a couple launches from the Causeway and having the orbiter roll behind the stack going uphill.  I figured from the north side the orbiter would be visible, as in the second shot.  Unfortunately, this time it hid behind the clouds :\

Added some quick edits of some of the launch sequence as seen by me from the VAB. I have added them to the end of the gallery and the slideshow can be fast forwarded to reach them. They have been reduced in quality and size to make them very small files hence the compression.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/suresh_atapattu/sets/72157626454460106/show/

i did take some pictures of the causeway from there. Will upload them once i get to process them. Maybe, some of you can spot yourselves in those pictures?  :D

It was definitely a very legal spot :) I was on the lawn in front of LCC. There is this one tiny spot there, where trees are smaller and you can see the pad.

As for spectator numbers, I'm sure a lot of people missed out because of the delay (I'm one of them), and far from all those tickets find new owners who are able to go (in fact the tour companies and NASA does nothing to facilitate that either since tickets are formally personal and not valid for resale although most people don't care about that)

In retro spect I missed this launch with mixed feelings... On one hand would always want to be there, on the other hand I would been somewhat disappointed with the cloud cover cutting the visual experience so short.

Looking forward to 135

The low cloud ceiling provided a beautiful natural frame. It made the launch look much more dramatic and provided a surprise when the Ship peeked through a broken cloud for a very brief instant. Beautiful!

Is that next to where the road splits by the crawlerway? Meaning one way turns into the woods by the RR tracks while the other runs along the crawlerway?

At about 830am on launch day, I turned my camera on to the causeway from the top of the VAB. The weather was not optimal for that angle and range however the results are below:

I have reduced the size etc to upload. If someone want to give me landmarks,I can try to go back to the original and process those particular sections to see what that will yield i.e. you and your family

Each launch has its own personality. Loved the view of Endeavour lit by Xenon lights, then by the sunrise. Got closer to the beginning of the Causeway this time. Just water all the way to LC-39A.

Screen captures from my video camera (xenon, sunrise, ignition, liftoff!)

Felt as if the roar was LOUDER due to the cloud deck versus STS-133.

And finally, wide angle of cloud deck (peeking though, trail shadow).

Thanks one and all for the great experience. NSF made it a lot better. A lot of shared experiences and interests. Go Endeavour! Go STS-134! God Speed and a Safe Return.

Also, safe travels home to all the NSF community!

Great photos people, but remember, don't embed unless it's smaller than the post width, and TWO images per post only! (Otherwise people on internet phones won't get to load the page until 2013 ;))

Thank you for posting your pictures everyone. I will not be able to post mine until after I get back to Europe. I will put them on my other computer and then on to my host site and here on the thread.

I only have one thing in mind... being back here for Atlantis launch!!!!

In the meanwhile I hope all will go well with Endeavour throughout the whole mission until they are safely landed back on US ground.

Go Endeavour!!!!

Thanks a ton to everyone that has shared their photos.
Can I please request more of the causeway pics at sunrise?

In retrospect, I think my favorite part of the launch day was just
seeing Endeavour ready at the dawn: fueled for her last launch.
That's just an incredibly memorable image for me.

Not really of the launch itself but I liked this photo from where we parked at the Astronaut Hall of Fame.  I didn't try to park to line up this shot it just kind of happened which made it funnier.

And remember, objects in the mirror are larger than they appear...

Here is an HD video I shot of the launch from inside the pad area.  Shot using a Canon 7D and custom trigger.

Felt as if the roar was LOUDER due to the cloud deck versus STS-133.

I can confirm the roar traveled farther/louder than any launch I've ever known... some of my family stayed behind in the town of Clermont (east of Orlando and about 70 miles from the pad).  They were in two different buildings in two different parts of town at the time of launch, but both felt their building shake in exactly the way the rumbles from the launch sound (slow gradual increase to mid-intensity, then a sharp drop-off, pause, and then a spike up to high intensity, and then a slow gradual fading away).  I've seen a lot of launches from Orlando/Clermont, but I've never heard let alone FELT anything from that distance away.  Those clouds must have been just the perfect altitude...

I agree about it being louder.  We watched from the Astronaut Hall of Fame parking lot where we saw STS-133 and commented on that at the time.  Interesting it had that effect even in to Orlando.

I took a video on my phone just for the experience and kept it going even after Endeavour went into the clouds and I wonder if I got the sound.  Haven't looked at it except on my phone so it will be interesting to plug it into the TV or something to see if I can pick up the sound.

I agree after seeing a few now about every launch having it's own character.  Only wish I had come over to view more live before last year.

Requested shot at the T-9 hold as seen with 800mm from the VAB roof. The weather on 5/16 was not the best for this long shot however there is always STS-135

I cropped to show the causeway bleacher area as i had a couple of requests for it. I have attached a crop and put some of the different edits on the link below:

Nice video record of your trip! While at your site I viewed your gallery of stills, and showed them to my wife since they captured the experience better than my photos. Best of all, I was able to prove to her conclusively that I was at the launch - you got a picture of me standing in the bleachers in img_5201 :) ! Might I have permission to use that photo for personal use (email to kids, Facebook album etc)?

Here are just a few I took during remote camera set-up. By the way, if you look closely on the second pic, you will see that the ET-122 Logo did in fact fly on this mission!

Here's a bit closer view of the ET-122 logo that I took on a visit to the Pad on April 26th.

A predawn pass of Endeavour and the ISS with the constellation Cassiopeia.  The last time I'll see her fly :(

This was 1019 GMT, 1 orbit after the Sep 3 burn.  I'm guessing they were about 15 miles apart.

Edit:
I had thought my lens filter needed cleaning, but this post suggests the haze around the trail is from the RCS thruster activity:
Just caught a short bright pass of ISS and Endeavour here in SoCal.
Appeared in Cassiopia and headed for the horizon, both nice and bright, and Endeavour was trailing a very prominant haze cloud from all the RCS action no mistaking which was which.

I WANT that shuttle truck!! :o ;D

Wow! Me too!

Walter S, once again stunning images! I hope you get some of Atlantis! How do you get so close?

mdeep, yours are awesome too! As are most of the others here! Quite a few are better than NASA's images.

Mine are hardly worth mentioning, but here they are (the first 5 on this page, further down you'll see some from STS-133):

Nice.

You know, I never once had the opportunity to see the shuttle overhead: it was overcast every day & night except the day of her landing, and only if they delayed it by a day would I have been able to see it, but alas it was not to be.

Still want my 'shuttle approaching ISS' opportunity - once last chance with STS-135. Here's to hoping.

That is plasma, which is atmospheric gases that have been compressed to a temperature hotter than the surface of the Sun so it glows.  Think of it as the wake around a ship, except that it is the surface of the sun.

Well, the sighting, the angle of view, the lighting and everything looks exactly like what we saw that very morning. I am under the impression it was taken from Merida Airport.
My pictures are in the "viewing" thread.
