Go Endeavour and a safe and successful mission for her crew.  Thanks to this fantastic website and forum as just about the best resource ever !
My own personal experience of succeeding in viewing a shuttle launch live from the NASA causeway was possible in no small way to having  found this site a few years ago.

(We travelled from Australia and managed to view STS 125, almost exactly two years ago)

I just wanted to say thank you to all the contributers on this forum. I'm entombed at work for the launch today so this has been my main source of news.

Good show NASASpaceflight!

Go Endeavour! Go AMS-02!

I was at the repair shop getting my car worked on, and I saw the launch live on the morning news.  Godspeed and best of luck to the crew!

I never even think to check ABC, CBS, or NBC anymore. Did any of them show it during their morning news shows? In the past they usually wouldn't even bother, which really annoyed me. I hope they will carry the launch and landing of 135.

Yep, they all did.  Probably a combination of timing (as you'll see in the article linked below) and the Giffords storyline making it a human-interest story for the morning show audience:

6 happy Astronauts are now on their way to the Space Station sailing in a happy Endeavour Space Ship.

Thinking that they will have her grounded the same as the other Shuttles causes me so much pain... Tell me this isn't true.

For me this grounding of the Space Shuttles while they could still serve more years is the same as when they grounded all the Concordes. Putting an end to objects of exception.

This is where the past was more futuristic than the future....

That is good to know. Many times in the past they ignored launches and landings even when they occurred during the morning news shows!

Anyone know if the cable networks (and even NASA TV) are on some kind of delay? I read that liftoff occurred as planned at 8:56:28. But my watch (which is accurate within a few seconds) showed it closer to 8:56:45. I know I am being nitpicky. ;) But this has me very curious. It just seems a little odd also to be watching an event I know has already taken place 10 or 15 seconds ago.

I was watching Fox 5 here in Atlanta.  They showed like a minute or so of the launch, that's it.  It's better than nothing, I suppose. :P

Haha classic Colbert. I have always loved that he has shown interest in the space program. Here is a post from Stephen Colbert a few minutes ago on twitter:
"The space shuttle endeavor is on its final journey. The mission: run the odometer backwards and jack up the resale value."

Following the events on NASA TV.

Two Italian astronauts just about to meet up and greet each other in the Space Station.

Meraviglioso!!

Forza Italia!!!!!!

and of course the transmission gets cut out at the very moment the STS-134 crew are making their way into the Space Station!

I can't wait for the Soyuz fly around and photography on Monday. That will be awesome. :) IMO they should make large posters of those photos of the entire complex.

What time will the Soyuz be undocking and what time have they planned the fly around?

From what I heard on NASA TV, I heard it was around 4:30 or so Monday afternoon Central time. Coverage begins around noon or 1p.m. Central for Expedition 27's undocking to come home. I can tell there will be a very extended view of the station and shuttle from the Soyuz engineering camera. That is the only view of the ISS changing orientation. I'd like to see that LIVE. :)

Most probably a delay from one of various sources - signal having to bounce off some satellites; for the online stream, encoder delays, etc.  I recall for one launch a couple years ago I noted the relative time delays between the radioreference scanner feed, "live" TV, and the NASA TV online stream - there was something like 30 seconds between RR (the fastest) and the online stream (the slowest)

I time-sync'd my photos to GPS time, and they confirm a 8:56:28 liftoff :)

Safe travels home for both the Soyuz and Endeavour.  Wish there were more to come for her...

1000 hour mark of station construction EVA time has just been passed.
What an incredible milestone.  It was considered a wall many years ago - a credit to the engineers planners, trainers, and astronauts (& whoever else) for surmounting it.
