Basically as in Chris' story, the debris chunk came off the PAL section of the ET. That wasn't expected. Now it has we need to look at the ETs and see what can be done. Until then, no more flights, even STS-300. If we have a serious problem with Discovery (which we shouldn't) we will have to go to stay with the ISS and work it out from there.

I've worked on every single launch, from STS-1. We have these issues with foam. We've just not seen them in such detail before. We're simply using due diligence with the evaluations. Everyone should be assured this isn't a new critical issue that has just happened.

What annoys me, Mike, is this area of the foam could have been really serious if the event had occured earlier in assent. Michoud should be slapped around for this.

Also, this - once again - in NOT an Orbiter issue. The Orbiter is a working, fantastic, brilliant machine. SRBs and ETs continue to mark its history.

Well if I knew flight was going to be this uneventful, I'd of taken the month off (note my sarcasm).

Precautionary is what I'd be using more than any other word right now.

*sigh* this is what I have spent the whole day telling people at work - It's not that its a new thing, its just that if you put more camera's there, you are going to see more of what happens. It doesn't mean it didn't happen before. Shiesh, the amount of public and staff who think that one damaged tile, and one bit of foam coming off spells doom for the crew is amazing. They don't realise how much it has happened in the past, just not seen.
