ICPS RL10 nozzle extension

Hey folks,

Does anyone know for sure if the ICPS's RL10 will use the extendable nozzle, or a fixed nozzle? Since NASA specs it as an RL10B-2, my first instinct would be that it would use an extendable nozzle, but many renders (including official NASA renders) show the nozzle as fully deployed inside the SLS interstage/LVSA.

The nozzle is extendable and was retracted when the ICPS was stacked. Not sure if it'll fly that way like the DCSS or be extended prior like many of the renders show.

I don’t think they’re visible on any RL10B-2s until after the extension is deployed. They go through the upper edge of the extension, so they are between the extension and the fixed nozzle in this picture (obscured by the extension).

RL10C subfamily is the first to offer both fixed and extensible versions where the jackscrews are replaced by fixed rods to offer stiffness. EUS will use the fixed nozzles with one nozzle extension segment omitted. Any future ICPS orders can opt in to the upgraded and modernized RL10C-2-1's and choose either nozzle option. A fixed nozzle impact ICPS, EUS aft payload rideshare options from the upper stage and those deployed from the LVSA with the USA to which Orion docks to before being pulled out of the stage.
