I hope we see more details in 2022 of this new space agency...

https://www.gob.mx/sre/en/articulos/signing-of-the-convention-establishing-alce-the-latin-american-and-caribbean-space-agency-283235?idiom=en  [dated Sept 20, 2021]

Quote
The ALCE will be an international organization that will coordinate cooperation in space technology, research, exploration, and related  applications that contribute to and strengthen the comprehensive and sustainable development of a regional space program that will benefit the Latin American and Caribbean peoples.

Mexico and Argentina are among the 18 initial signatories.  Brazil is not.

I sincerely hope it will not be a do-nothing supranational bureaucracy.

Support your local planetarium! (COVID-panic and forward: Now more than ever.) My current avatar is saying "i wants to go uppies!" Yes, there are God-given rights. Do you wish to gainsay the Declaration of Independence?

Brazil was not there, but we can see the European flag... Maybe it will be possible to do something with Guyana and the CSG?

Brazil hasn't signed and ratified. The dialogue with the country is continuing as they would like to join however not all Brazilian entities within the government are all on the same page towards agreeing to join.

The EU is an observing member not a full member state just like Canada is to ESA. AFAIU, French Guyana can apply for full membership if it becomes independent of France.

Brazil already has its own space agency, the Brazilian Space Agency. The Comisión Nacional de Actividades Espaciales (CNAE) is the space agency of Argentina, which is currently developing the Tronador SLV. Why did Argentina become a signatory to the convention establishing the Latin American and Caribbean Space Agency (ALCE) if it already has a homegrown space agency?

I leave this video about a debate on this future Space Agency.

Tweet of the Space Agency...

https://twitter.com/AgenciaAlce/status/1494329333627822087

In the video, there was a discussion on future projects including a possible mission with this mini-probe to Jupiter and the Heliopause.

Countries that are signing this accord belong to the space agency now.

This year it is estimated that all the work of its birth will be formalized.

Will see...

ALCE is more like ESA, not NASA. It doesn't take the place of the existing space agencies, but it is a group where the member states can get together and invest in more ambitious goals (plans to expensive for any country to invest alone).
