The world's first satellite actively sensing CO2 with the LiDAR technology, the new satellite will be ready for launch in July, said Zhang Xingying, a senior researcher with the National Satellite Meteorological Center, in an interview with Xinhua.

This satellite is known as the Atmospheric environment monitoring satellite or Daqi-1 and it seems to be 'Chinese Aura'. It's different from the Tansat-2 project which involves six satellites in two different SSOs.
Also, July was the scheduled date for factory review and not for launch yet.

I'm reconstituting a launch thread for Daqi-1.  As you see, we've been expecting it's launch from Jiuquan during the second half of 2021.

There was a September launch from Jiuquan, apparently canceled on short notice, documented immediately down-thread.

The early November Jiuquan launch was for Yaogan-32 Group 02, and the late November Jiuquan launch was for Gaofen-3 (02).

No joy yet.

A rumor has surfaced that the rocket had a mechanical problem with a valve, which clearly delayed the launch, and that this [CZ-2C launch from Jiuquan] delay could have affected the launch of the [K?]Z-1A rocket that was scheduled for September 18.
Is there a chance the payload and rocket were removed from the pad?
If you are referring to the rumor, I don't know, if it is true that there is a problem with a valve I suppose they will do their best to fix it on the platform, but if they don't manage to do so, it may be necessary to lower the payload, although I don't know if this is possible on the CZ-2C/YZ-1S.
Depends if any membranes on the rocket from attempted fuel and oxidizer load need replacing if there was indeed an attempt.

If the CZ-2C was removed from the pad, could it have made way for the Daqi-1 launch from the same pad?

I'm wondering: Might the PRC allow more coverage of this launch, due to its "civilian" and environmental remote sensing nature?

If not, then our "outsider" first inkling of an imminent launch would be NOTAMs and/or NOTMARs for a Jiuquan launch that don't match that published for Yaogan-32 Group-02.

That's a good question, as I mentioned in the original thread, if this rumor is true it could change the launch schedule from Jiuquan, however we wouldn't know to what extent the launch affected the others, in principle if the rocket was removed from the pad for closer inspection it could leave room for another launch, however, it would have to be seen which rocket would be launched now as the launch pad might need refurbishment for the launch, although it could also be that another CZ-2C rocket was launched so there would be no changes to the launch pad to avoid further delays but then, another problem would arise. The failure of the CZ-2C for the Yaogan-32 Group 02 launch would be a one-off failure...or it could be some error in the production of the CZ-2Cs...this may sound somewhat illogical but it has happened before, I remember a few months ago a failure was detected in a Soyuz rocket which led to inspect the other rockets that were finished and that step.... had to revise the rockets of that production batch so they had to repair all these defective rockets which I think were already launched this year or there would be some left to launch.

Wikipedia lists the Daqi-1 as planned to be launched aboard a Long March 4C rocket, but has there been any latest word on status of the Daqi-1, or whether it will launch next year.

The two footnote sources in the current Wikipedia article are: 1) the March 2, 2021 Xinhua article referenced in this thread's OP, and 2) the spaceflightfans.cn listing page based on that same Xinhua article.

The WP editor or editors apparently know nothing more, or newer, than we do here on the NSF forum.

I'll say it again.  WP is, at best, a secondary information source. At worst, flat-out wrong.

This is absolutely the case. You are at least as knowledgeable and competent as the Wikipedia editor who edited that article. ALWAYS go to the cited sources. If the Wikipedia article contradicts the source, then you have just as much authority and responsibility to fix the Wikipedia as anyone else does. If you know of a better source, then add that source to the article. If you don't wish to learn how to edit Wikipedia "properly", then add a comment, with your source, on the article's talk page.

This Daqi-1 might be launched by Gushenxing-1 for one of multiple payloads next week.

Doubtful.  What little is known or deduced about Daqi-1 is that it is too large and/or massive for Gushenxing-1.  Thus, its apparent assignment on a CZ-2D.

This Daqi-1 might be launched by Gushenxing-1 for one of multiple payloads next week.

Daqi with its five instruments is a main payload, an equivalent to OCO or even Aura...

Can someone please check if there are any NOTAM associated with an orbital launch from Jiuquan on the December 27th? Thank you!

Nothing that looks like related to this (or heck *any* of the up to 5 known/rumoured with a chance going up before end of 2021) launches are active within Chinese borders. I haven’t checked downrange areas yet.

Do you have the source of this happening on the 27th? There’s a NOTAM in the Indian Ocean that lines up with a launch out of Jiuquan, but it’s for NET December 30th:

Given current circumstances, but also given the relatively high importance of the program (?), do we expect any advance notice of this launch, either officially or leak-ok'd-by-a-higher-authority?

Or, is the consensus that the first news of this launch will appear as an "anonymous" NOTAM or NOTAMs, as is now most often the case?

[Daqi-1 satellite passed the factory review] On January 12, 2022, the national space infrastructure atmospheric environment monitoring satellite engineering satellite system successfully passed the factory review.
The Atmospheric Environment Monitoring Satellite is the first satellite in the world to use multi-methods to comprehensively conduct atmospheric environment detection. The development and launch of satellites will fill the gap in high-precision fine particle space detection, promote the improvement of my country's space-based atmospheric detection technology, and promote the application of satellite remote sensing in ecological environment, meteorology, agriculture and rural areas, and contribute to my country's "carbon peak". , providing important support for the development of carbon neutrality strategy.

Good to hear about the development status of the Daqi-1 satellite. The question is when CNSA will issue an appropriate launch window for the Daqi-1.
