ChinaSat M is scheduled to be brought into use in the 2nd quarter of 2013. Featuring mobile beams and transponder switching capability, it will provide for commercial broadcasting and communications services with 27 Ku-band transponders to meet the needs of Direct-to-Home, data transmission  and digital broadband multimedia services for clients in Asia, Australia including the regions of  China Sea and Indian Ocean, etc.

Also interesting is the fact that some time ago a Chinese official said the there were only 3 launches planned for Xichang in 2013: Zhongxing-11, Chang'e-3 and Tupac Katari.

Doesn't look reliable since that date comes from Robert Christy's site (http://www.zarya.info/Calendar.php), which are sometimes no more than very rough guesses from information he got from the web. I doubt that there will be a launch from Xichang in August, despite reports that some LM-3 series launch team members are there at this moment (probably either related to construction work on LC-3 or maybe Chang'e 3).

Wild guess (or rumour) on 9ifly space forum about the launch date for ZX-M giving July 27, 2014, as the launch date. No confirmation about this was seen in any other site, so take this with lots of salt.

Various information has repeated this launch will be on July 27th. I believe this will be true so we just need to wait for the NOTAMs to confirm it.

I have never heard about a ZX-M1.

What I'm trying to ask is this a one off SC or is this the first SC in a constellation of sats would use the ZX-M designation and then be numbered??

Nothing as yet. Which is strange since this "should" be a civilian comsat....
