I assume that Imam Khomeini Space Center is the site formerly known as Semnan.

I suppose that it is a specific area of Semnan, but I'am not sure about this.

Report: Iran successfully launches satellite-carrying rocket.

Until now there is no reference to a satellite only to "a satellite-carrying rocket."

IKSLC opens with test launching of Simorgh satellite carrier into space.

Still no reference to a satellite on this launch.

If I have understood correctly, it was the second suborbital Simorgh launch.

The published launch time (09:30 UTC) is close to the published launch time (09:33 UTC) of Simorgh rocket on April 19, 2016. If it was the second Simorgh launch then why Iran said that "the launch signals official inauguration of Imam Khomeini Space Center"? I think that it means that the first launch was a failure.

Or the launch in April 2016 was not Simorgh.

The above video does cut out abruptly, right after some clear TVC inputs.  Coincidence?

I think so, this video goes on for a few more (nominally-looking) seconds:

Any ideas on the cause of the red colored plume coming out of the interstage section right at liftoff?   Wouldn't that typically indicate N204?  But coming from the interstage?  I've never seen that on Soyuz or Proton.

My guess is that N2O4 is a pressurizing gas for the S1/S2,  & excess is being vented as the Simorgh's systems start flight?
