Rocket engine geek questions

Are there any technical rocket engine articles and picture on site? I’m thinking detailed drawings, turbines, pumps and piping, pre-burners etc. Not so much interested in the maths, but in how all the parts interrelate in detail. Not too worried about which engine, but preferably one that uses cryogenic fuel and oxidant. I know it must be here somewhere but I can’t find it!

That is a good question and slightly difficult to answer. There were some good books published over the years - you could ask for some recommendations of a Textbook nature. Some of the Haynes books of recent years, dealing with Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, Shuttle and Soyuz programs give good if somewhat generalized pictures and accounts.

The Nasa SP-8000 series of reports is old, but good.
Here is an index of them
, and they can be found using the search function of the
NTRS page

Thanks - I will have a look - plenty there to get my teeth into - but what about more modern engines like the SSME? I would also be interested in the new SpaceX Raptor engine, but I imagine theres zero chance of that!

Yeah - SpaceX keeps things pretty much close to their chests. But check out this cool document - even if it is rather outdated now:

Search on strs.nasa.gov. Here are a couple of 2011 AIAA papers on SSME.
