Positively amazing work!  I would have never guessed so much of the video could be recovered especially when the experts said it was a hopelessly lost cause.  This video repair goes to show what the hard work of dedicated people can achieve.  "It is only impossible when you don't try." - Unknown

Wait!  The audio still doesn't work!

EDIT:  And an obvious mega attaboy to all.   When Elon said "we're going to crowd source it", I don't think he imagined this kind of an effort or result.

Just a note, if you like the result of our recovery efforts, please click "Like" on the final posts of the clean-up crew. Quialiss, SwissCheese, saliva_sweet, and IainCole, to name a few.

Also, we would not have been able to make this happen without Chris Bergin and his forum. Keeping this site running requires a huge amount of resources. You can help defray that cost by subscribing to L2 access today.

I think the video did not use the latest version of frame 201, could you check it?

Oh fiddlesticks. I see what happened.

There are two versions of frame 201 in the spreadsheet. Which one should I use?

This is fantastic.

One is being written for us by one of the team here. I'll subedit and get it on when it's done :)

Small suggestion: Since the guys have all the intermediary code/steps/images, a "tutorial" style screencapture video of how they went from the raw dump provided by SpaceX, to the final video would be very useful too - especially for those of us who, annoyingly, had a very general idea of how they were going about the fix, but didn't have the specific expertise to chip in. A video might also allow them to keep all the details that wouldn't make it to the final edit of an article.

Right, I've chased people a couple of times and unfortunately I didn't get addresses for everyone :(

The list has been sent so if I didn't get something from you by now I'm afraid you missed the boat!

I hope to see some "unboxing" pics soon =)

The latest videos coming out of the I->P work are awesome! I'm sorry I haven't been able to build this into the editor, I just haven't had the time :(

The one in the continuous list (not the backup)

Fixed! I found a way to get the audio out of the data!

New, and hopefully last version. SwissCheese, can you double-check that frame 201 is fixed?

I propose that the new version be added to message 1 of this thread in place of the interim cleaned up video there.
From "The Rhetoric of Interstellar Flight", by Paul Gilster, March 10, 2011: We’ll build a future in space one dogged step at a time, and when asked how long humanity will struggle before reaching the stars, we’ll respond, “As long as it takes.”
