One thing that made sense was the bulldozer operator saying that the pad had to be up there for the exhaust to avoid harming the dunes. Those little piles of sand between the pad and water are what keeps the area from turning into part of the Gulf.
More crane puzzle pieces are here this morning. Snuck through before the road work started back up.
It's starting to look like one of the big Appletons. The base is around 13 feet.
The owner of 8 Weems is clearing the place out this morning. Says he unloaded it to a buyer who asked to remain anonymous. I'm not sure who they think they're fooling. The snowbirds are all gone. Just me, the Heatons and our little former ghost town.

Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who couldn't hear the music.

So the top image is a water tank I guess, and what is the second image is it apart of the crane

Could be the base(?) of the crane:

You can even see the hatch in the picture.
You want to be inspired by things. You want to wake up in the morning and think the future is going to be great. That's what being a spacefaring civilization is all about. It's about believing in the future and believing the future will be better than the past. And I can't think of anything more exciting than being out there among the stars.

Looks like they finished paving early.
I thought that base was big until the boom got here. Paced off around 130 feet.
It looks like an overhead. I'm going to stop guessing what's going on here. Back to digging post holes in clay.

Now how can we ferret out if SpaceX  bought this or is renting/long term leasing it? It sure looks brand new.

i think "Thing 3" from above connects to the top of the boxy base we saw earlier. the attachments points line up better at around 8' apart. then in looks like at the top of Thing3, some of the others narrower struts attach where its a bit narrower at 4'

Back to digging post holes in clay.

Makes my back hurt just thinking of doing that. Auger or clam shell?

So that's the crane boom? It's huge.

Rock bar and a post hole digger. Half the reason I'm doing it is for the exercise. Every six feet, being hurricane country.

I'm not real creative in naming my photos.

In case of hurricane, tear off at perforation?

It must be sized for ITS. Near term use with building the pad. Long term use with moving ITS boosters, tankers, and spaceships around.

Maybe this IS the crane for 39A, and they just needed somewhere to stage it until the modifications for Falcon Heavy commence?

Clay?  You mean, like gumbo?  Thought you'd be on sand.

I'm still assuming that they will build the crane first as what will eventually be the service tower for a mini ITS. Then it will build the pad around itself.
