"Try live in Everest first before living on Mars" - a guy that's founder of a certain rocket company

It's pretty clear from the start there that SpaceX & Blue Origin are pursuing totally different goals. We can talk about the Mars potential on any rocket companies & agencies all day long (classic example: NASA's post-Apollo), but without a clear goals it had & will be going nowhere

My parents was just being born when the Apollo program is over. Why we are still stuck in this stagnation, let's go forward again

Its has been 22 years since BO was founded and we are still waiting for an Orbital flight. I don't think they will be on Mars within the next 200.

They will be there within the next 22 years. They will purchase tickets on SpaceX Mars flights just like the other passengers.

Thank you for the video.

On a related note, when you start a new topic, could you stop adding ... to the end of it? It doesn't add much.

Tywin does it on almost every post of his/her/their post, it's probably a personal style by now so the prognosis on your request is problematic.  Is it a personal triggering point or does it translate into something bad in Dutch?  I always though the .... was used in an attempt to draw others into the conversation.  Kind of a "What say YOU!?"  I didn't notice until now that Tywin is a chronic "... Its terrible grammar. The elipsis has a specific meaning. Its like having periods or bad punctuation in the middle of a sentence where it doesn't belong.

Although Blue Origin was founded in 2000, it waited until 2014 to move into the orbital spaceflight technology development business. Last February, NASA awarded Blue Origin a contract to launch a Mars mission aboard a New Glenn rocket, which means that the New Glenn will be optimized for both earth-orbiting missions and planetary missions after it conducts its first flight.

I think that Blue is much more focused on a lunar economy, so a crewed Mars mission probably won't happen for a while.

...on the other hand, they'd be happy to launch whatever payload to Mars so long as someone will pay for it.

I think "New Glenn will be optimized for both earth-orbiting missions and planetary missions after it conducts its first flight" is perhaps being generous. Will it be designed with a second stage capable of long-duration coasts and multiple restarts? Of course: that's required for many mission types, including direct GEO insertions, plane-changes for rideshares, and yes, interplanetary missions. Is that some special "planetary mission" optimization? Not really.

Frankly, I think we'd all have been more shocked if New Glenn were inherently incapable of this broad category of missions. Even Electron has a kick stage that facilitates the same (although it lacks the raw power for direct GEO...probably, no one's going to put a cubesat in GEO regardless).

Falcon Heavy put a 16U Cubesat into GEO on its last mission.

I think they are focused more on building "probably the most beautiful rocket factories in the world" and less on anything orbital. Getting to orbit would be a good start, never mind the moon. As for Mars, I don't think they will ever have a Mars plan.

They seem to be building and testing a lot in those "beautiful rocket factories":

Well this threads annoying to read for no particular reason.

Anywayyyy. I didn't know this existed. ill give it a watch. it's rare that a senior position at blue origin gets to speak about things. So I'm wondering what they'll see this time.

There is going to be a collective nervous breakdown of Blue haters once they launch into orbit next summer.

Don’t be so childish. It’s not hating BO but rather being so disappointed with them. Expected so much more from them but I’m still waiting for that first orbital attempt to happen and will be happy to see them finally get there. But it’s 10 years later than I expected.

Get to orbit, then get better at it, then think about the moon. Mars is a long long way off.

It's certainly their fault that they decided to go to an absolutely massive rocket after NS, but I think it should be said that they still are doing a lot. New Shepard had a fairly okay cadence, especially for being a vehicle with so many firsts. Also, Blue has so many projects going and we don't even know the full extent of these. New Glenn just hasn't been the focus for 15 years, like Falcon 9 has been for SpaceX. Blue goes slowly, but their projects work, and I'm confident in New Glenn, and in the future, New Armstrong.

New Shepard has a disappointing launch cadence for a fully reusable suborbital vehicle that has had many years to mature.
