This just seems like another DoD boondoggle in the works to me. More structure, more brass, more lobbyists, more budget, more acquisition overhead and delay. IMHO, at this stage, Space Force planning should be completely outside the military branches, perhaps DARPA or something like it would be better for the time being. If nations really get serious about military space capabilities, I'm pretty sure they are going to be thinking well outside the current box and will require both original ideas and fast prototyping turnaround. The US military has shown itself to be remarkably incapable of anything like that.I'm afraid we're in store for some combination of F35, LCS, SLS and Zumwalt programs starting in mid century, once they get the preliminary requirements approved.

For so long we have tried to prevent the militarization of space. This is disconcerting.
Just a bad name. Astro Corps? Rocket Brigade? Vacuum Marines?...

From the president's remarks:"Very soon we’re going to Mars. You wouldn’t have been going to Mars if my opponent won. That I can tell you. You wouldn’t even be thinking about it. You wouldn’t be thinking about it.”
