Prevent debris from blowing towards shore– The wind does not necessarily blow in the same direction on the ground and higher up. That is the phenomenon that is giving us challenges now, says Harr.On Friday, there will be a mild offshore wind on Andøya. Basically perfect weather for a launch. But only a few hundred meters up, the wind blows towards land. And so it is up to several kilometers high.– It is the wind that is most critical for the launch vehicle when it is in flight. If there is too much wind in the wrong direction, there would be a risk that any debris could blow overland. Under such conditions, we cannot carry out a launch.
Andøya Spaceport confirms that range is cleared. Countdown has begun. @isaraerospace
