I didn't think I was being vague...  No siree Bob!

...

A few days later (1/20), much was revealed

Still vague.  What exactly was "revealed?"

I saw the same thing you did, but it sounds like interpretations differ.

If there was an announcement on 1/20 that the Moon mission is cancelled, I must have missed it.
At a minimum, Trump laid out Mars as a goal, while neglecting to mention the moon (and in these kinds of speeches, nothing is omitted by accident)

Then Musk was given the podium, and rattled on about Mars in a broader manner.

Sometime before that, Musk's HSF guy was named by Trump as the next NASA administrator.

Then several congress critters echoed support.

Then Jared Isaacman echoed support of the goals.

That's really a lot.

It's really not.

You're just repeating your (still faulty) logic you previously used to jump to wild conclusions about Elon's tweet.

I'm not saying a moon landing won't happen.

I'm saying that "the moon is a distraction" will underlie the next set of plans.

"My original point was proven completely unsupported, so I'm going to make a new point that you can sort of squint and make it true for practically any outcome."

Well the thread topic kinda got overtaken by events.

There are no new "events" to speak of.  There's just you twisting anything you see to fit what you've convinced yourself you already "know."

Interesting to keep in mind that the choices regarding Moon or Mars made by Musk, SpaceX, NASA and the Administration may well be of pivotal importance for the future history of Mankind.

We are at an inflexion point.

In other words, a fork in the road? :)

It's possibly a negotiating tactic but the chances of human exploration of the Moon being cancelled are small.
