Personally, I do not doubt that there is a substantial cadre of PRC techno-bureaucrats that are working towards putting Chinese persons on the Moon and returning them safely to Earth.  It's not an official, funded goal yet, is it?

The Soviets HAD a manned lunar landing program, which included Lunar Orbit Rendezvous, but chose to use direct return for their Luna sample return missions (Luna Ye-8-5, Luna Ye-8-5M).

It's not an official, funded goal yet, is it?

That's my impression. They are doing basic research and development of the various technologies required. I think once the space station is completed we'll find out if the program gets fully funded.

 I don't really see the need for trying to overthink the robotic lunar program for clues when they're launching an explicitly 'BLEO' crew vehicle prototype soon, and have shown off demonstration parts for a large BLEO crew launcher. There's only so much they could want to do with those. Even if moon landing goal itself isn't funded, there's clearly and openly been a lot of preparatory work done.

Wuhan is an important base for CASIC (Kuaizhou series), not CASC. Therefore, it is possible to affect launch schedule for kuaizhou series(KZ-1, KZ-11). But it is unlikely coronavirus will impact the space program. For example, CZ5B-Y1, CZ7A-Y1, and their payloads all have arrived at Hainan recently.

But even in a best case scenario, and it’s far too early to say anything on this, Wuhan is likely to be out of commission for a considerable amount of time.

Concept of the Solar Ring Mission: Overview

The concept of the Solar Ring mission was gradually formed from L5/L4 mission concept, and the proposal of its pre-phase study was funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China in November 2018 and then by the Strategic Priority Program of Chinese Academy of Sciences in space sciences in May 2019. Solar Ring mission will be the first attempt to routinely monitor and study the Sun and inner heliosphere from a full 360-degree perspective in the ecliptic plane. The current preliminary design of the Solar Ring mission is to deploy six spacecraft, grouped in three pairs, on a sub-AU orbit around the Sun. The two spacecraft in each group are separated by about 30 degrees and every two groups by about 120 degrees. This configuration with necessary science payloads will allow us to establish three unprecedented capabilities: (1) determine the photospheric vector magnetic field with unambiguity, (2) provide 360-degree maps of the Sun and the inner heliosphere routinely, and (3) resolve the solar wind structures at multiple scales and multiple longitudes. With these capabilities, the Solar Ring mission aims to address the origin of solar cycle, the origin of solar eruptions, the origin of solar wind structures and the origin of severe space weather events. The successful accomplishment of the mission will advance our understanding of the star and the space environment that hold our life and enhance our capability of expanding the next new territory of human.

China to launch IoT communications satellites named after Wuhan

WUHAN, April 3 (Xinhua) -- China will launch the first two communications satellites for its space-based Internet-of-Things (IoT) project in mid to late April, with one satellite named after its birthplace Wuhan, according to the China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC).

The two satellites, Xingyun-2 01 and 02, are the first stars of the "Xingyun Engineering" project, which is scheduled to complete the network with 80 low-orbit communications satellites. They were designed and developed by the Xingyun Satellite Co., a subsidiary of Sanjiang Group.
Xingyun-2 01 was named "Wuhan." It will work for a Chinese low-orbit constellation for Internet-of-Things communications and be tested in industries related to marine, forestry and engineering machinery, the company source said.

Abstract

To answer key scientific questions about Planetary Systems, it is particularly fruitful to study the Jupiter System, the most complex "secondary" planetary system in the solar system, using the power of in situ exploration. Two key questions should be addressed by future missions:A-How did the Jupiter System form? Answers can be found in the most primitive objects of the system: Callisto seems to have been only partly differentiated; its bulk composition, interior and surface terrains keep records of its early eons; the 77 or so irregular satellites, wandering far out beyond the region occupied by the Galilean satellites, are unique and precious remnants of the populations of planetesimals which orbited the outer Solar System at the time of Jupiter's formation.B-How does it work? One can address this question by studying and understanding the chain of energy transfer operating today in the Jupiter System: how is gravitational energy from Jupiter transferred to Io's interior via tidal heat dissipation to power its volcanic activity? How does this activity in turn store energy into the Io plasma torus to drive the whole magnetosphere into motion? How does the interplay between the Io torus and the solar wind dump energy into heating of Jupiter's upper atmosphere, or release it into the tail and interplanetary space?Starting from the measurement requirements derived from these two objectives, we propose two ambitious mission scenarios, named JCO and JSO, to meet these requirements. Both use the combination of a main spacecraft and one or several specialized small platforms.JCO, the Jupiter Callisto Orbiter, first flies by and characterizes several irregular satellites during its Jovian orbital tour. It is then injected into Callisto orbit to characterize its surface and interior, investigate its degree of differentiation and search for the possible existence of an internal ocean. As an option, JCO could release a lander to Callisto's surface to perform key measurements of chemical composition, clues to understanding the formation scenario of the Galilean moons.JSO, the Jupiter System Observer, performs several fly-bys of Io and visits several irregular satellites during its Jovian orbital tour. As an option, JSO could release one or several small satellites to perform multi-point studies of the dynamics of the Jovian magnetosphere. At the end of its tour it could be injected into a halo orbit around the L1 Lagrangian point of the Sun-Jupiter system to monitor the solar wind upstream of the Jovian magnetosphere, measure Jovian seismic oscillations, and perform a comprehensive survey of the irregular satellites.Led by China under the name of GAN De, the first astronomer to have claimed an observation of a moon of Jupiter four centuries BC, and broadly open to international collaboration, a mission flying to Jupiter in the 2030's according to either one of these scenarios will be able to capitalize on the legacy of previous missions to Jupiter (Juno, JUICE, Europa Clipper) and to trigger a very exciting international collaboration to unravel the mysteries of the origins and workings of the Jupiter system.
