Great work by the site to promote the book.

Government Printing Office is separate from NASA

Will it be published in the UK?

NASA is using their internal publisher, it's not a commercial entity.

Sorry, I was going off Amazon which says NASA JSC is the publisher. Isn't the end result the same? Unless the GPO has a Europe branch?

And I don't think this was made clear in my earlier posts, but it's $20 cheaper to get the hardcover from Amazon.

I've got a friend who works for the major bookstore chain Waterstones over here. I'll ask him what the deal is with the suppliers for a book of this type.

Wayne, if you're reading this: could you provide some clarification about the books you're referring to? I read way too many space history books, but precious little about the unmanned side of things, so I'm especially interested in the Viking book you mentioned. I've done a little digging but can't find it. Any other books you could recommend would be much appreciated.

Since now we had STS-133 and will have STS-134 and 135, will NASA release a new edition with all completed information towards end of this year?

Also some information on orbiter retirement will be useful as well?  Charlie Bolden is to announce the decisions in April and things will be more clear very soon?

It would be great to have information as much as possible on the STS-program in this great book :)

I don't think this is a mission -specific overview... For that you might look for Jenkins' book.

Questions and answers

Nope, the book is a one shot, no plans to revise for the last couple of flights or the final disposition of the orbiters.  It has been a struggle just to get to this point.  However, we are putting together a web version of the book and the intent is for that to be updated  . . . by whom, I don't know.

Apollo & Viking books:  I have "Chariots for Apollo" by Brooks, Grimwood, and Swenson 1979 NASA SP-4205, "The Apollo Spacecraft" by Brooks and Ertel, 1976 NASA SP-4009, "Project Apollo:  the Tough Decisions" by Seamans, 2005 NASA SP-2005-4537 and one of my favorites:  "Viking Orbiter Views of Mars"  Spitzer, ed, 1980 NASA SP-441.  There are many many more good books for the truly dedicated space enthusiast, of course.

Will it be published in the UK?

It is on the Amazon UK website but is listed as currently unavailable.  Hopefully that’ll change after the book is officially released.

No - read the last line.

"Book is now due for release April, 2011"

Stock says 310 items in stock.

It has said that for months, it's probably the number they have allotted for the first printing run.

Just received mine today. It looks great!

It looks much more technical than I thought. I was expecting it to be more similar to the book "Voyager Tales: Personal Views of the Grand Tour".

There's enough to read for a couple of months and to revisit for many many years.
