Oh, man, the BBC and its BS.
Steve Squires just did a new 1 hr (live/exclusive) interview with Unmannedspaceflight.com and stated uncatagorically that Opportunity will *not* enter Victoria unless there's a confirmed way back out again!
He said the only way Oppy will get stuck inside for the rest of its 'life' is if a wheel motor fails (while entering or already inside Vicky). Otherwise they may climb back out and reenter via another 'bay' somewhere else around the crator for more scientific explorations of the rock layers and chemistry there.
