Having watched the live military action of the Star Wars movies, including galactic warfare, I am wondering there is a high unlikelihood of a Star Wars-type space war happening in our lifetimes, given that the UN Outer Space Treaty forbids any warfare in outer space, and a space war would end up causing space debris from a space war to float in space over a vast distance.

Highly unlikely because we don't have the propulsion systems or weapon system that allow for such space war.  Has nothing to do with the UN or debris.

Also, such weapons could be used to clean up debris by vaporizing it.
