Thread for the Starlink 5-6 group launch.

NSF Threads for Starlink 5-6: Discussion

Launched May 4, 2023, at 07:31 UTC (3:31 am EDT), from Canaveral SLC-40, on booster 1069-7.  The first stage successfully landed aboard A Shortfall of Gravitas.

Main payload: 56 Starlink v1.5 satellites.

Launch to a mid-inclination orbit on a southeastern trajectory.  Initial orbit is 298 x 340 km at 43 degrees.

Starlink v1.5 satellite mass is now about 300kg after the addition of laser ISL terminals.

Please use the Starlink Discussion Thread for all general discussion on Starlink.

Check the Starlink Index Thread for links to more Starlink information.

Is this a typo, or are they really going to send a batch of starlinks into orbit that were not expected by the community?

No corresponding FCC STA exists, but there's one for a "Group 5 Spare" declared a few months ago:

A Falcon 9 will launch a Starlink batch from pad 40 on early May around 3:30 a.m. EDT [= ~07:30 UTC]. <snip>

ASDS should be ASOG, as JRTI would not return to Port Canaveral, deliver the booster from the April 28 launch, and arrive on post at sea again in ~3 1/3 days.

Edit: It's ASOG.

Which first stage will be used for this launch?

1060.16 is presumably still involved in its "deep-dive examination"?  This would likely also remove 1058.16 from consideration for the meantime.

1073.9 and 1076.5 are presumably now undergoing modifications to become the Falcon Heavy side boosters for Jupiter 3.

Available first stages, with date of most recent recovery:
1078.2    Mar 2  O3b mPower 3 and 4 (holding a less-than-five launches booster back for Crew Dragon use?)
1062.14  Mar 9
1069.7    Mar 17
1067.11  Mar 24
1077.5    Mar 29

Edit May 2: It's 1069.7.

I suspect that this launch will be delayed by the same number of days as however many days the mPower launch is delayed beyond April 28.
L-0 launch weather forecast is still only 20% GO and [same for] tomorrow. So launch could be pushed back a while.

Edit:  mPower launched on April 28, but this launch was delayed to May 4 anyways.

Gives it as 4 May 03:29EDT 07:29UTC (10 min after NGA time seems normal)

So pad apparent planned turnaround 28th 21:12 to 2nd May 08:20 was a record shattering 3.5 days, but now back to 5 days 10 hours, fast but no longer a record.

Targeting Thursday, May 4 at 3:34 a.m. ET for Falcon 9’s launch of 56 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from SLC-40 in Florida → spacex.com/launches/

SpaceX is targeting Thursday, May 4 at 3:34 a.m. ET (07:34 UTC) for a Falcon 9 launch of 56 Starlink satellites to low-Earth orbit from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. If needed, there are additional launch opportunities the same day at 4:25 a.m. ET (08:25 UTC), 5:15 a.m. ET (09:15 UTC), and 6:06 a.m. ET (10:06 UTC). Backup opportunities are also available on Friday, May 5 at 3:09 a.m. ET (07:09 UTC), 4:00 a.m. ET (08:00 UTC), 4:50 a.m. ET (08:50 UTC), 5:41 a.m. ET (09:41 UTC), and 6:31 a.m. ET (10:31 UTC).

The first stage booster supporting this mission previously launched CRS-24, Eutelsat HOTBIRD 13F, OneWeb 1, SES-18 and SES-19, and two Starlink missions. Following stage separation, the first stage will land on the A Shortfall of Gravitas droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.

A live webcast of this mission will begin about five minutes prior to liftoff.

Two new NGA Space Debris (the same notice for two different Navigational Areas).

The only difference that I see is that these say INDIAN OCEAN instead of WESTERN INDIAN OCEAN.
Edit: And they expire ten minutes later.

Also, these are NOT cancel-and-replace notices, so all four Space Debris notices are active notices.
