I like the thread name!  ;D  Let's hope F9v1.1 upper stage delivers on that re-start.

Yeah, I just noticed that on the discussion thread.  Good golly, you're quick on the reply today, Chris!

Tip 'o the hat to QuantumG.

With the launch time being very close to sunset, it looks like the residents of Florida would be able to observe the "jellyfish", exhaust of kerosene burning engines, seen in Soyuz rocket launches at dawn/dusk, in the clearest way ever (there hasn't been a launch of a rocket with a kerlox upper stage from the Cape in many years), assuming that it lifted off early in the window and the skies are clear.  8)

(interestingly such a scene may also happen for the very first time at French Guiana when GAIA launches - the launch time is just before sunrise on Nov. 20)

What about the previous 5 F9 flights?

How different is the Kero/Lox plume from the Delta II Hypergolic upper stage?

There were, however, Atlas V launches (www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5znhV7TFdY for example) and the CCB burn time goes well into the F9 2nd stage start time and until both vehicles pretty much exit the atmosphere. So, there have been kerolox powered vehicles exiting the atmosphere, just not under 2nd stage power...

Please no animated smiles... I rue the day the internet introduced those. I prefer ASCII smiles over anything else.
You can already do marquee text...

LEO is the ocean, not an island (let alone a continent). We create cruise liners to ride the oceans, not artificial islands in the middle of them. We need a physical place, which has physical resources, to make our future out there.

In case any Europeans here are looking for an excuse to watch the launch, American Airlines now has some pretty sweet deals to Central America with stopover in Miami. Just paid 400 euros for a return trip to Costa Rica (from Barcelona, Spain) with 3 days in Florida. With a bit of luck we might just make it to this launch or the MAVEN launch...

Just like the last F9, three big events in a day. Chinese Launch. Progress launch. SpaceX launch.
