Figure 5.1-2 Trajectory differences with the HTV3 and HTV4In the HTV4 mission, in order to shoot the reentry of the HTV4, Descending Maneuver (DSM) 3 and 4 will be added to let the HTV4 descend and fly single Earth orbit ahead of the ISS. At the timing of the HTV returns and flies below the ISS, HTV’s De-Orbit Maneuver (DOM) will be performed.
A stationary camera onboard the International Space Station took this picture of the Japanese HTV-4 cargo spacecraft as it entered Earth's atmosphere on Sept. 7, subsequently burning up.
The experiment was delivered to the ISS on August 3, 2013, by the Japanese robotic cargo vessel "Kounotori-4." It has since been installed on the station's exterior by the station’s robotic arm. All of the sensors were checked out at the end of August and full-time science operations are slated to begin in early September 2013.
