Apparently we won another Emmy for DM-2, “Outstanding Daytime Special Event”.

Part of me really wants to win the Emmy for “Outstanding Technical Team” but I don’t think the media team at X will ever actually submit for that 😐 We are doing LIVE WEBCASTS FROM SPACE! Come on now!

Award was back in June and went to Space Launch Live: America Returns to Space (Discovery and Science Channel).

#OTD 2 years ago, NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley reached the @Space_Station leg of their Demo-2 mission. They spent the following months helping conduct science aboard the orbiting lab.

2 years ago today, @Astro_Doug & @AstroBehnken launched in capsule Endeavor on SpaceX's first crewed mission, Demo-2. That launch will always hold a special place in my heart as it sparked my love for spaceflight to an unimaginable amount.

MEDIA ADVISORY M23-011

Former NASA Astronauts to Receive Congressional Space Medal of Honor

Vice President Kamala Harris will award former NASA astronauts Douglas Hurley and Robert Behnken the Congressional Space Medal of Honor at 4:15 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Jan. 31. Hurley and Behnken will receive the award for bravery in NASA’s SpaceX Demonstration Mission-2 (Demo-2) to the International Space Station in 2020.

The ceremony will air on NASA Television, the agency’s website, and the NASA app, as well as the agency’s flagship Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube channels.

Limited pre-credentialed media will join pooled press for the event.

On May 30, 2020, a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying the company’s Crew Dragon spacecraft launched to the space station, marking the first mission to launch with astronauts as part of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program.

Demo-2 served as an end-to-end flight test of SpaceX’s crew transportation system, providing valuable data toward NASA certifying the system for regular, crewed missions to the orbiting laboratory under the agency’s Commercial Crew Program.

It was extremely humbling to be recognized among the previous recipients. Huge thank you to @NASA for the nomination, to @SpaceX/NASA for making it possible, and @VP for taking the time with our families to make the event so special!

First time the Congressional Space Medal of Honor has been awarded at the same time to all NASA astronauts in a successful multiple-crew mission.

Both John Young and Robert Crippen received the medal for STS-1 although that occurred nearly 25 years apart.
